New to Grow
Welcome! I'm Christopher Figueroa, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) dedicated to helping individuals and couples navigate life's challenges with compassion, collaboration, and evidence-based care. I strive to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can explore your experiences, build insight, and develop practical tools to foster lasting change. My practice focuses on treating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship concerns, life transitions, and stress management. Together, we'll work at a pace that feels comfortable for you while creating personalized goals that support your emotional well-being and help you move toward the life you want to live.
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a strong therapeutic relationship. We'll discuss what brings you to therapy, explore your current concerns, review relevant personal and mental health history, and talk about your goals for treatment. You're welcome to share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with—there's no pressure to have everything figured out. By the end of our session, we'll identify some initial goals and discuss a plan for moving forward together. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, respected, and empowered throughout the therapy process.
I believe that effective therapy begins with a genuine, trusting relationship. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to your unique experiences rather than a one-size-fits-all model. I integrate evidence-based approaches—including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Solution-Focused Therapy, and trauma-informed care—to help you better understand your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while developing practical skills you can apply in everyday life. What sets my practice apart is my ability to tailor treatment to your individual needs. Whether we're working to process past trauma through EMDR, challenge unhelpful thought patterns with CBT, or build solutions for present-day challenges, our work together will be guided by your goals and paced according to your comfort. I strive to create a warm, nonjudgmental environment where you feel safe, heard, and supported throughout the therapeutic process. Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, or a major life transition, my goal is to help you build resilience, gain insight, and create meaningful, lasting change so you can move forward with greater confidence and well-being.
My ideal clients are individuals from all backgrounds, identities, and walks of life who are seeking support, healing, and personal growth. I welcome and affirm everyone, and I strive to create a safe, inclusive, and nonjudgmental space where you feel respected, heard, and valued. Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, chronic stress, or simply feeling stuck, therapy can provide the tools and support needed to move forward. I enjoy working with clients who are motivated to better understand themselves and create meaningful, lasting change, even if they're unsure where to start. Whether you're looking to heal from past experiences through EMDR, develop healthier coping strategies, improve emotional well-being, or build resilience, I will tailor our work together to your unique needs, goals, and pace. My commitment is to provide compassionate, evidence-based care that empowers every client to live a more fulfilling and balanced life.
I identify as
EMDR
I use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help clients process distressing memories, reduce the emotional impact of past experiences, and develop healthier beliefs about themselves. EMDR is an evidence-based therapy that can be effective for trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, and other experiences that continue to affect daily life. Treatment begins with ensuring you have the coping skills and emotional resources needed to feel safe and supported throughout the process. We work collaboratively to identify treatment goals and proceed at a pace that feels comfortable for you. Using bilateral stimulation, EMDR helps the brain reprocess difficult memories so they become less distressing and no longer have the same influence on your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. My approach is always trauma-informed, compassionate, and tailored to your individual needs, with an emphasis on helping you build resilience, increase self-confidence, and move forward with greater emotional freedom.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients develop psychological flexibility—the ability to respond to difficult thoughts and emotions in healthier, more effective ways. Rather than trying to eliminate uncomfortable feelings, ACT teaches clients how to accept their internal experiences with greater compassion while focusing their energy on actions that align with their values and long-term goals. In my practice, I integrate ACT by helping clients become more aware of unhelpful thought patterns, practice mindfulness, and build skills to manage anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, and life transitions. Together, we identify what matters most to you and create realistic, values-driven goals that support meaningful change. My approach is collaborative, practical, and individualized, empowering clients to move forward with greater resilience, purpose, and emotional well-being.
Attachment-based
I use an attachment-based approach to help clients understand how early relationships and life experiences may influence the way they connect with themselves and others. Together, we explore patterns related to trust, emotional closeness, communication, boundaries, and relationships to gain insight into how these experiences shape current thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. In my practice, I provide a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients can develop greater self-awareness, strengthen emotional regulation, and build more secure and fulfilling relationships. By identifying and working through attachment wounds, clients can develop healthier relationship patterns, improve self-esteem, and feel more confident navigating life's challenges. I tailor this approach to each client's unique experiences and often integrate it with evidence-based therapies such as CBT, ACT, EMDR, and trauma-informed care to support lasting healing and personal growth.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify and change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to emotional distress. CBT is an evidence-based approach that is effective for concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, and life transitions. By increasing awareness of the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, clients can develop healthier ways of responding to life's challenges. In my practice, I work collaboratively with clients to identify negative thinking patterns, challenge unhelpful beliefs, and develop practical coping strategies that can be applied in everyday life. Sessions are goal-oriented, personalized, and focused on building skills that promote long-term emotional well-being. I often integrate CBT with other evidence-based approaches, including ACT, EMDR, attachment-based therapy, and trauma-informed care, to ensure treatment is tailored to each client's unique needs, goals, and experiences.
