New to Grow
Hello, my name is Carter and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I believe therapy should be a safe, supportive space where you can show up exactly as you are. My approach is grounded in empathy, respect, and compassion. I work from a person-centered and humanistic perspective, which means I see you as the expert in your own life and aim to create a space where you feel heard, seen, and valued. In my practice, I work with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem, relationships issues, life transitions, and other stressors that can make day-to-day life feel overwhelming. I am committed to providing culturally sensitive and inclusive care that honors each client's background, identity, values, and lived experiences. I integrate mindfulness and strengths-based approaches to assist clients in building awareness, developing coping strategies, and reconnecting with themselves. My goal is to walk alongside you in your healing journey - Together, we can work toward you feeling more empowered and aligned with who you are.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and start understanding what brought you to therapy. We'll talk about what's been going on in your life, what led you to seek therapy, and what goals you may have for yourself. I may ask some questions to better understand your experiences, but you are always in control of what you choose to share and when. There's no pressure, you can simply show up as you are! This first session is also an opportunity for you to get a feel for me and decide whether working together feels like a good fit. You are welcome to ask questions about my approach or about the therapy process.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is creating a space where people genuinely feel safe, heard, and valued. I approach the therapeutic relationship in an authentic way and believe meaningful progress happens when clients feel part of the process. I bring both professional and personal experience into my work, which helps me better approach the wide range of challenges that people face. I am strong in my ability to provide thoughtful insight and practical tools to help you better understand yourself and create meaningful change.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
My ideal clients are individuals who are ready to explore their thoughts, feelings, and life experiences in a safe, nonjudgmental space. They may be struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem challenges and/or navigating life transitions. These clients believe healing is a journey, are motivated in self-exploration and personal growth, and value a collaborative, person-centered approach.
Humanistic
I focus on understanding you as a whole person, rather than a set of symptoms. My goal is to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can explore your emotions, experiences, values, and goals.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
I incorporate mindfulness-based strategies to assist you in becoming more aware of your thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations in the present moment. The goal is to support a greater sense of balance within yourself.
Strength-Based
Together, we will identify and build on your personal skills and strengths so that you can use them as tools as you move towards your goals.
Trauma-Focused CBT
I utilize trauma-focused CBT to help clients process and understand the impact of past experiences. This approach helps identify patterns while developing healthy coping strategies and a strong sense of safety.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
My work is grounded in a person-centered approach, meaning I believe you are the expert in your own life. I aim to provide empathy, respect, and collaboration so that therapy feels like a safe space for you.
