Bienvenidxs! my name is Jennifer Vazquez, I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist #138920 based in California. I identify as a Mexican-American Latina, homebody, and introvert among other things. When I’m not in session, I am reading a book, binging on a show, moving my body through strength training, yoga, or going on a walk, and spending quality time with those I care about. During sessions, I do my best to provide a space where clients feel seen and heard. My practice is focused on women who are experiencing anxiety, low self-esteem, imposter syndrome, stress, codependency, and relationship issues. I work collaboratively with my clients on deepening their awareness through the use of somatic techniques, mindfulness, and reflective activities. We will work on identifying supports and building on useful coping skills as we work through generational trauma and learn boundary-setting, communication skills, and managing emotions. My primary focus is on building a solid relationship with you, my client, to provide such a space where you can feel comfortable enough to show up raw and authentic. I believe that growth happens when we dig deep into the mind, body, and soul. The journey toward healing is not always comfortable, but I am here to hold space for you and meet you where you are. We will work together to create practices and tools that you might need in and out of sessions.
During our initial session, we will discuss and explore what brings you to therapy. We will review how you have been managing your symptoms and who/what your supports are. Towards the end of session we focus on setting goals for our time together.
My main focus throughout any session is to build trust and safety with my clients. I do this by being empathetic and engaging my listening skills to help clients feel seen and heard.
I am trained in Relational Gestalt Therapy. My focus in session is to build a strong trusting relationship in which there is space for empathy, compassion, and open communication. We focus on building awareness and create meaning of our thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
