First session
During our first session, we will examine life domains to determine what is going well and what is not going well. I pride myself in assisting people deal with stressors and will implement listening and communication skills to meet the person where they are. Together, we will gather information and identify strengths, needs, abilities, and preferences to develop goals that best meet mental health needs. Therapy is most productive and effective when the client and therapist are clear about goals and are able to work collaboratively to help reach those goals. It will be specifically tailored to meet the special needs. My goal is to provide a non judgmental and compassionate space to let life’s complexities and contradictions unfold. You can expect to have a safe space to talk about your thoughts and feelings.
Strengths
I promote growth by exploring and clarifying mental health needs, ensuring needs are being met, and ensuring a nonjudgmental therapeutic environment. I have a passion for helping people with mental health and various life issues. Others goals become my goals, and I strive to walk alongside them towards a future of mental stability and peace. I quickly develop rapport, provide support, compassion, and assist individuals/families to understand root causes that have lead them to counseling. I will do my best to provide an optimal therapeutic experience.

My education and previous work experience as a Harris County Juvenile Probation Officer and elementary school teacher gives me a unique insight with children and the adolescent population. I have experience in early childhood, adolescent and teenage issues such as, but not limited to drug abuse/education, child abuse issues, depression, self injurious behavior, suicide prevention. Other areas of expertise are: individual counseling, marriage and family counseling, domestic violence, and anxiety.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have numerous years implementing this treatment method. I have assisted clients to make changes that can be implemented rather quickly. I have helped clients identify specific problems or issues in their daily life and becoming aware of self sabotaging thoughts and how they can negatively impact their lives. New behaviors were learned and put into practice.
Christian Counseling
I have often incorporated this treatment method when clients have requested it. I have used it to offer a safe space for clients to discuss spiritual and religious beliefs. I have used it for interpersonal conflict for marriage, couple, or family issues. Finding meaning/purpose and making important life decisions are often based on faith based beliefs. Offering hope, reducing stress and symptoms caused by mental illness have also been a part of the Christian counseling I provide.
