I have been in healthcare for 15+ years. I am a board-certified FNP and PMHNP. My main focus is caring for women in life transitions, grief, trauma, depression/anxiety, marriage challenges, and burnout/work-life balance. My experiences have led me to focus on the mental needs of patients during their most challenging times, transforming that compassion into a passion for helping others. I am dedicated to supporting individuals facing trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, and various mental challenges. I take pride in listening to my clients' stories, helping them navigate their struggles, and guiding them toward a more fulfilling life. My role is to advocate for mental health screenings, provide medication management, and/or collaborate with other mental health professionals to provide comprehensive care. I am currently licensed only in NC. Everyone has their own journey and experience. I spend a lot of time getting to know my clients to listen and understand their stories. I focus on holistic care and your specific goals. I am a strong advocate for inclusivity in mental health and wellness. With a commitment to ensuring that everyone has access to the support they need, I believe that mental health is a universal right. Through my practice, I foster an environment where every individual feels valued and empowered on their journey to well-being. I love what I do and am incredibly honored to be a part of this journey with you. You matter.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
During our first session together, we get to know each other-yes this goes both ways. This is an incredibly vulnerable position as the client. My ultimate goal is to listen. You have the moment to be heard. We focus on your goals and how to get there. I meet you where you are and we come up with a plan together. I practice in a way that is all encompassing of a holistic, individualized care, implementation of healthy living, and overall wellness. Mental wellness is not treated with one thing-it is a comprehensive approach with therapy, diet, exercise, self-care, and there is a role for medications as well. It is not a one size fits all.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
Everyone has their own journey. I spend lots of time with my clients to listen, understand, and provide holistic care. I am a strong advocate for inclusivity. I strive to ensure that everyone has access to the support they need and deserve. Mental health is a human right. I love what I do and am honored to be a part of this journey with you. I believe that no matter how challenging life feels, there is always hope—it’s sometimes just about finding the right path forward. Together, we’ll explore personalized strategies to help you manage stress, build resilience, and cultivate a healthier, more balanced life.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
***I am currently unable to take on any additional therapy ONLY clients at this time but am able to continue with medication management. If we feel therapy would be an essential component to your mental health care needs at this time we will work together to find a therapist that specializes in your specific needs and collaborate on this together.*** I am dedicated to helping individuals navigate the challenges of life transitions, chronic illness, burnout, and trauma. My ideal clients are young and seasoned professionals feeling overwhelmed by the demands of their careers or personal lives. Whether you’re managing the pressures of raising children—whether toddlers or navigating the changes that come when your kids head to college—or feeling burned out in your profession, I’m here to help. I specialize in supporting clients who are facing difficult life changes, grief and loss, or those dealing with chronic illness and its emotional impact. Through evidence-based practices, I work with individuals to develop healthy coping strategies, regain control, and rediscover hope, even in the toughest times. I also enjoy working with adolescents/teens that are struggling with depression, anxiety, bullying, and just trying to find their way in this world.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
This therapy modality focuses on the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. CBT is based on the idea that unhelpful or distorted thinking patterns contribute to emotional distress and maladaptive behaviors, and that by identifying and changing these patterns, individuals can improve mood, coping, and functioning. CBT can be used in a multitude of ways to help target negative thinking and change behaviors. Cognitive restructuring of the mind.
Grief Therapy
In my long-standing history in caring for those with terminal cancer diagnoses-this one hits home the most. In the face of the end-there are a lot of emotions-fear, apprehension, guilt, anger, sadness, etc. Whether it's the loss of a loved one, a friend, a pet, or the loss due to a new diagnosis-loss of independence...these are all hard things. Remembering to give yourself grace and understanding everyone grieves in different ways.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
I love implementing this therapy-it's about being present and practicing self-awareness. Learning how to self-regulate emotions and being aware of your reactions. This also includes observing thoughts and emotions as temporary experiences rather than facts. It takes a nonjudgmental acceptance and reducing self-criticism and emotional avoidance.
Motivational Interviewing
This is a big part of me giving you your moment- listening to your wants/needs, helping you understand you have the power. We also work together to get you to trust yourself and learn how to enable this incredible power to get your life back the way you want it. Empowerment is the ultimate goal here!
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
You are the expert In your life. In collaborating together we can identify goals and what you as the client want to see change. This focuses on strengths and past successes that can be applied to current challenges with the here and now. I always say that you are the expert in your life and the driver, I'm just your guide to help keep things on track and to ultimately get you to your goals. You are the one that does the hard work, sometimes you just need help through the fog. The goal is that along the way you will find hope, clarity, and understanding that you are capable of big things. This needs to be celebrated even if finding wins in the little things.

Rachel made my assessment feel open and easy, the conversational style I prefer, without the police interrogation vibe some assessments can have. Was knowledgeable about my conditions and clearly understood the efficacy and side effects of the medications we discussed. She listened closely even through my very squirrel-ish reporting & demonstrated a solid grasp of my symptoms. Having a psych NP who is professional, educated, intelligent, and still feels like a regular, relatable human is a win.

My initial nerves in the virtual waiting room faded, thanks to its calming environment and fun keyboard music game. Rachel was on time her calm presence eased my anxiety. I felt heard; she listened attentively and asked thoughtful follow-up questions, showing genuine engagement. She clearly explained her assessment and outlined next steps. I was comfortable sharing, felt no judgment and respected. I highly recommend Rachel. Her empathetic approach made a challenging first step remarkably smooth.
