Hello and welcome. My name is Kambui and my pronouns are he/him. I am an African American cisgender male. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and master's level Assessment Specialist. I am adept at multicultural counseling. I am a person, like you, who has lived real-life experiences that have impacted me in various ways, and on multiple levels. My unique experiences allow me to be easily relatable. I am empathic and listen without judgment. Nothing we discuss will shock me or diminish the unconditional respect and positive regard deserving of all people. I operate in a professional manner and uphold the highest standards of ethical practice and confidentiality. I have worked as a community and home-based therapist, school therapist, in hospital, clinical and outpatient settings and private practice during the course of my 11 years of practice. I am skilled in a variety of treatment methods and areas including depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, relationship counseling. I look forward to the opportunity of working collaboratively with you to help resolve anything that is a current barrier to your emotional, physical, mental and overall well-being in your personal, professional, or social functioning.
Our first session will mainly consist of establishing rapport and an atmosphere of trust. It is important that we are compatible, and you feel that I am someone who you feel comfortable with, can trust, and feel that I am competent and able to help you. As a mental health professional, I cannot over-stress the importance of a strong therapist-client connection. I will also obtain some basic background history and information pertaining to your reason(s) for seeking therapy. We will identify your goals and how we can work together to achieve them.
I excel in establishing a positive therapeutic alliance with my clients. This positive connection strengths the level of client buy-in and engagement during the counseling journey. I am well-versed in areas of stress, anxiety, depression, crisis intervention, substance counseling, grief, anger management and couples counseling. I work with clients of all ages, sex, gender identity, ethnicity, sexual orientation, race, economic status and religion.
