Do you find yourself emotionally stuck, no matter what you do? You may be fed up with dealing with the impact of trauma, feeling exhausted from managing anxiety, or stuck under the weight of depression. You might not even remember a time when things didn't feel this way. But one thing is for sure: you're ready for some relief. You're ready to be in control of your life. You're ready to be free from the burden you've been carrying. Most of all, you're ready to move forward with the plans you've always had for your life. Clients come to me looking for a therapist who understands the feeling of being stuck; therapy should be a place where you feel safe and cared about. Sessions are a team effort. Together, we untangle the complicated parts of your story using methods such as EMDR, somatic experiences, and narrative therapy. We go at your pace, prioritizing your comfort level. As an experienced mental health therapist, I believe that our bodies, brains, and emotions can work together even after anxiety, depression, or trauma. You don't have to continue feeling like you're not in charge, and you don't have to do it alone. Call me today for a 15 minute consultation. I can't wait to hear from you.
I provide individual therapy to people trying to break free from unhelpful patterns. I use a person-centered, trauma-focused approach that includes methods such as EMDR, somatic experiences, and narrative therapy. My clients walk away from therapy feeling like they have greater clarity on who they are and how they want to move forward in life. They tell me that therapy has helped them figure out who they are underneath the baggage they’ve been carrying for years.
Each of the treatment methods I use is focused on empowering clients to regain autonomy and power over their mental health and their own life story. EMDR is a method that incorporates the natural movements your body and brain already use to process emotional experiences, and directs those movements to be focused on concerns that brought you into the therapy process. Somatic experiencing works with the feels, sensations, and experiences we have in our own bodies as we react and recover from the difficult things life throws at us. Together we listen to the messages your body is sending you to promote healing. Narrative therapy works within your own story to untangle all of the difficult parts and give you power back over your own story. These methods center your story and experiences.
Anxiety - Anxiety is our brain telling us we are not safe. We feel overwhelmed and worried even when it does not seem logical. Therapy helps you look at these feelings and identify how to put you back in control of your body and brain. Depression - When life is too much, our brain decides (without our consent) to throw in the towel. We feel tired, restless, and irritable. But therapy can help you come out from under that heaviness of depression and breathe fresh air again. Trauma - When we’ve been through something, our brains and bodies remember it. It can pop up in memories, dreams, fears, or physical pain. Through the process of creating safety, reprocessing trauma, and integrating what you’ve learned, therapy frees you and your body from the control that trauma has had.
