Hello, my name is Knou, pronounced New. I'm a licensed clinical social worker with a combined 18 years of experience working with children, families, parents and adults in various settings such as non-profits, schools, hospitals and outpatient settings. If you're in a place that is leaving you feeling unsure, anxious or unhappy in any way, I'd love to walk alongside you to help you navigate it all. Many clients I've worked with in the past have made gains toward overcoming their challenges such as anxiety, depression, OCD, bipolar symptoms, grief, relationships and trauma. In our person-centered sessions together, you'll learn to understand your symptoms better and gain some skills to help manage them. I am looking forward to getting to know you better and being a part of your therapy journey.
In our first session together, we will get to know one another. We will work collaboratively to identify what is important to you and make a plan to address them.
A lot of my previous clients have appreciated my ability to sympathize and understand the unique challenges they are going through. I work very hard to create a therapeutic environment that allows clients to not feel judged and where they can freely express themselves.
High functioning and motivated clients with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, and parenting issues.
I take a psychoeducation approach to my work with clients in order to ensure they have the tools to manage the challenges in life. I find myself teaching clients socratic questioning to help them process unhelpful thoughts.
I use a DBT informed process that draws valuable strategies from this treatment modality to help you manage your daily challenges. This can include strategies like wise mind, distress tolerance skills or diary cards as needed.
I have worked with individuals of all ages experiencing grief. As losing loved ones is inevitable, this is a continuous process that can be incorporated into our sessions together.
Change is mostly made through the individual themselves and I use this method to gauge and support that individuals' motivation for change. I teach about this change process and continuously help clients understand where they are in these stages and support them in finding ways to make necessary changes in their lives.
I have used this method to help clients understand themselves better and the various ways their nervous system responds to stress and daily challenges. Many clients have expressed how this has changed the way they react over time for the better.
