(she/her)
Hello, my name is Knou, pronounced New. I'm a licensed clinical social worker with a combined 20 years of experience working with children, families, parents and adults in various settings such as government, non-profits, schools, outpatient and private group practice settings. If you're in a place that is leaving you feeling unsure, anxious or unhappy in any way, I'd be honored to walk alongside you to help you navigate it all. My work has included parent coaching and work with children of all ages. I also have worked with students and young adults as they navigate life challenges. Lastly, my adult and older adult work has been around navigating chronic or complex illnesses, and life changes impacting mental wellbeing.
During our initial session, we will focus on building a professional rapport and establishing a foundation for our work together. We will collaborate to identify your primary concerns and develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to address your specific goals.
A lot of my previous clients have appreciated my ability to empathize and understand the unique challenges they are going through. I work very hard to create a therapeutic environment that allows clients to not feel judged and where they can freely express themselves. In our person-centered sessions, you'll learn to understand your symptoms better and gain some skills to help manage them. I am looking forward to getting to know you better and being a part of your therapy journey.
I specialize in working with highly motivated individuals who are navigating the complexities of anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship exploration, chronic illness, and parenting challenges. My ideal client is someone prepared to engage in deep, intentional therapeutic work. I am seeking individuals who possess a genuine willingness to explore difficult experiences, remain open to self-reflection, and stay committed to the consistent effort required to achieve their personal goals and foster meaningful, lasting change in their lives.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
My approach is rooted in psychoeducation, as I believe in empowering clients with the practical tools necessary to navigate life's challenges. I frequently incorporate socratic questioning and cognitive restructuring strategies, helping clients learn how to effectively identify, challenge, and manage unhelpful thought patterns.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I use ACT strategies to help clients identify patterns of cognitive fusion, experiential avoidance, and value disconnection. By fostering psychological flexibility, I support individuals in navigating difficult thoughts and feelings to take meaningful action toward their personal goals and values.
Grief Therapy
My approach to grief therapy is rooted in the understanding that loss is a universal human experience that can occur at any stage of life. Whether navigating the immediate aftermath of a death or processing long-standing grief, I provide a compassionate space for individuals of all ages to explore their feelings. I believe grief is a continuous, evolving process; therefore, I am comfortable either centering our sessions entirely around your loss or integrating grief support as a consistent thread within our broader therapeutic work.
Motivational Interviewing
I believe true change is driven by the individual, and I utilize motivational interviewing to gauge and support that intrinsic motivation. My approach involves educating clients on the stages of change, helping them identify their current position in that process, and providing the necessary support to navigate the steps required to make meaningful improvements in their lives.
Polyvagal Therapy
I utilize Polyvagal Theory to help clients deepen their self-awareness and better understand how their nervous system responds to stress and daily challenges. By identifying these physiological patterns, my clients are empowered to regulate their responses more effectively, and many have reported significant, positive changes in how they navigate life's stressors over time.
