Hi, I'm Meagan, a Brazilian-American Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and I believe therapy should be a place where you can be honest, feel understood, and work toward meaningful change. I work with teens and adults from all backgrounds, particularly those navigating anxiety, relationship challenges, difficulty establishing boundaries, and the emotional challenges that come with life’s transitions. My approach is warm, collaborative, creative, and honest. I want my clients to feel safe enough to bring their authentic selves into the room while also feeling supported in doing the sometimes uncomfortable work of growth. I believe you can be both compassionate toward yourself and accountable for the choices within your control. I especially enjoy helping clients understand their patterns, develop new ways of thinking, build emotional resilience, and learn to tolerate difficult feelings without allowing those feelings to dictate their choices. Relationships are another area of particular interest to me, especially learning how to communicate needs, establish healthy boundaries, and maintain meaningful relationships without losing yourself in the process. I take a holistic view of wellness, considering the mind, body, and spirit. For clients who are interested, I am also trained in spiritual integration. Above all, I want therapy to be a space where you can be real, challenged, encouraged, and reminded that change is possible.
The first session is about determining if we can work well together. My goal is to address questions and concerns my clients have, because I know taking those first steps to take care of yourself is extremely important but this whole process can be daunting. I have a series of questions I need to ask, but I work to create a warm and inviting environment. And if you feel like you don't click with me, there is no pressure. My hope, and my encouragement, is to find a therapist you know you'll work well with! I do recommend attending at least three sessions with any provider to determine if it'll be a good working relationship, and I can clarify why with a consultation or in that first session.
I bring warmth, attentive listening, sharp insight, creativity, and a little humor to my sessions. I work hard to create an environment where clients can be authentic and honest without feeling judged, while also knowing that I will be honest with them in return. I believe therapy should involve more than simply validating how you feel. Your feelings matter, but sometimes healing also requires looking at our thoughts, patterns, and choices from a different perspective. I strive to offer compassion without reinforcing patterns that may ultimately keep you stuck. When appropriate, I will gently challenge you, ask difficult questions, and help you distinguish between what you can and cannot control. My approach is influenced by Choice Theory and Reality Therapy, which means I place an emphasis on personal agency, present choices, relationships, and creating change that is meaningful to you. I combine this framework with evidence-based techniques tailored to your individual needs rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. Sessions with me can involve both hard work and humor, emotional processing and practical problem-solving, seeking truth while making room for complicated or conflicting feelings. My goal is to help you develop greater emotional resilience, think in new ways, and make intentional choices that move you toward healthier relationships and a life that feels more aligned with who you want to be.
I work best with thoughtful, emotionally overwhelmed teens and adults who struggle with anxiety, depression and relationship patterns and want to develop healthier boundaries, greater emotional resilience, and more intentional ways of responding to life's challenges. I also work with clients who are struggling with motivation to establish appropriate, one step at a time interventions that make progress less overwhelming and more feasible.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is the most evidence based practice for mental health treatments and is one that I pull from primarily for treatment in Anxiety and Depression. I like to utilize specific techniques from this method that are helpful for managing negative thinking and feelings and adjusting behaviors to healthier patterns.
Reality Therapy is based in Choice Theory which is my primary theoretical orientation. The focus on choice that comes with reality therapy is empowering and helps with shifting our mindset to be able to implement those techniques from CBT. We can't control external circumstances, but we can choose how we respond and to do so in a healthier way.
I am trained in Spiritually Integrative practice (adept to all faith background, but with expertise in the Christian worldview). Research shows that integrating faith is an important component for managing symptoms of many mental health issues, as a source of strength and hope.

Meagan is great to work with. She is down to earth, easy to talk to, listens/remembers well, helps process and think through solutions, can be direct with feedback when needed, and continues to direct dialogue focused on your goals. She is very authentic, warm, humorous and holistic! I highly recommend her!
