New to Grow
Hi! I'm Darian, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor with 7 years of experience in inpatient and outpatient settings. Throughout my career, I've supported individuals facing challenges related to anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, stress, and life transitions. I am passionate about creating a safe, supportive space where clients can explore thoughts and feelings they may not feel comfortable sharing anywhere else. While my background includes extensive experience working with men who struggled to open up emotionally, I enjoy working with adults from all walks of life. I am particularly passionate about helping individuals navigate the challenges that often arise in their mid-20s to mid-30s, including relationship concerns, career stress, life transitions, and questions about identity and purpose. My approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to each individual's needs. I believe meaningful change comes from a combination of self-awareness, personal growth, and practical support. My goal is to help clients better understand themselves, build on their strengths, and move through life's challenges with greater confidence and authenticity. Outside of therapy, I enjoy taking photos in nature, playing video games, and spending time with friends and family. These activities help me stay grounded, present, and connected to the things I value most.
During our first session, we’ll explore what brings you to therapy and start to better understand what you’re hoping to get out of our work together, at a pace that feels right for you. I’ll also provide a brief overview of how I structure sessions so you know what to expect moving forward. My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling heard, respected, and supported as we begin working together.
One of my strengths in sessions is helping clients slow down and feel more comfortable putting words to their experience, even when that feels difficult at first. I’m comfortable using silence, gentle prompts, and reassurance to give space for reflection without pressure. Clients often describe my presence as grounded and calming, and I work to create an environment where it feels safe to be open, even with emotions or experiences that are hard to talk about. I naturally track emotional shifts in the room and help clients make sense of what they’re feeling in real time, which can support greater clarity and self-understanding. I also help clients look at situations from different perspectives, which can make patterns and stuck points easier to notice. Over time, many clients find they feel less avoidant and more willing to engage with thoughts and emotions they previously struggled to approach.
I enjoy working with individuals who want a supportive space to explore their thoughts, emotions, and life experiences. Many of my clients are navigating anxiety, depression, stress, relationship concerns, life transitions, or challenges with self-esteem and self-confidence. Whether you're seeking practical coping strategies, greater self-understanding, or simply a place to feel heard and supported, I welcome clients wherever they are in their journey.
Other specialties
I identify as
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
For the past seven years, I've used CBT to help clients better understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Together, we'll identify thought patterns that may be holding you back, explore new ways of looking at situations, and develop practical tools to help you respond in ways that align with your goals and values.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
I've used Mindfulness-Based Therapy with many clients, incorporating practices such as body scans and deep breathing to strengthen mindfulness skills, reduce stress, and increase comfort with being present in the moment. Together, we'll learn to slow down, become more aware of your thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations, and approach your experiences with curiosity and compassion.
Humanistic
I utilize a Humanistic approach with each of my clients by bringing a non-judgmental, supportive, and genuine presence to our sessions. Together, we'll create a space where you feel heard, understood, and accepted for who you are. As we explore your experiences, strengths, and values, you'll gain greater self-awareness and confidence in making choices that align with the life you want to live.
