I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of Florida. I graduated from Florida International University with my undergraduate degree in Psychology, and later earned my graduate degree in Clinical Psychology from Barry University. I have over six years of experience in substance abuse treatment and the treatment of co-occurring disorders, and 10 years of experience in education. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, anger, relationship issues, self-esteem, abuse, and trauma. I also completed an EMDRIA Approved Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Training (EMDR) in 2019. I believe that change happens when people are provided with the guidance and support they need to draw on their own strengths and realize their potential. I provide an environment of compassion and encouragement to help individuals and families overcome obstacles to move forward and lead happy, fulfilling lives.
Through my experiences, I have realized that having an open mind and being able to listen without judgment, is just as important as providing practical feedback. I aim to provide a safe, collaborative, and empathetic environment for my clients. In an ideal space, my clients feel comfortable exploring important issues and working toward resolutions. I take pride in developing and sustaining quality therapeutic relationships with each client. My high ethical standards and personal integrity are evident in my therapeutic approach.
My therapeutic approach begins with a warm environment where clients feel comfortable being themselves. I utilize a tailored approach depending on my client's individual needs. I use therapeutic methods that include client-centered therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and solution-focused therapy.
I have experience in counseling clients with a wide range of addiction and mental health issues that include depression, anxiety, bipolar, grief and loss, anger management, relationship issues, low self-esteem, abuse, and trauma.
