My stance is non-judgmental, honest, validating & empowering. I provide my clients with tangible coping skills & feedback to produce meaningful change. I would be honored if you chose me to help you navigate your way towards greater peace and healing. You don't have to have the roadmap to healing and you don't have to figure this out on your own.
Our first session together will be more of a conversation about your story, what brings you to therapy, and determining goals you would like to achieve. Together, we will have a partnership, one based on boundaries, mutual respect, and validation. Please be encouraged that you don't have to "do life" alone. It's time to do something different, time to choose thriving over surviving! My office is a loft with incredible character, natural light, color, with a 100+ year history and is actually the Avett Brothers' old music studio!
I became a therapist because I, myself, have struggled with my own mental health struggles and I want to turn my pain into something beautiful! I think my background and training have positioned me well to truly and sincerely empathize with my clients and challenge/empower them in a direct, nonjudgmental, and affirming way.
I enjoy & specialize in working ANYONE who realizes their capability for change and who are willing to do the work required to live a more whole-hearted life. I ask also for willingness and honesty - therapy does not work without these things. My approach is Person-Centered & Holistic. I use Mindfulness, CBT, DBT, TF-CBT & Reiki to treat depression, anxiety, trauma, personality disorders, substance abuse, chronic health issues, relationship concerns, dissociative disorders, & more. I think most therapists use cognitive behavior therapy, most would agree that if we change the way we think about some thing then we can interrupt behavior and or we can interrupt faulty thinking thus changing our behavior
I am trying to dialectical behavior therapy and find out the coping skills offered produce incredible results for clients. I integrate these coping skills with most of my clients, not just those with personality disorders.
We don’t have to like everything that happens to us, but it is important that we accept it. Acceptance is the decision that we sometimes have to make multiple times a day. However, it is vital to keep us moving forward.
Being grounded in the present without judgment is the foundation by which all other coping skills can be built. My phone is based, the behavior therapy is one of my primary tools to help people find more sense of self and security.
My treatment is holistic, I have worked with many individuals that have chronic health problems and often see this couples with the history of trauma. If we take care of the mind, we take care of the body and vice versa.
