Amy Young
I am a licensed clinical social worker with 4 years of experience working with various mental health and drug and alcohol concerns. I am trained to work with a variety of clients and look forward to building meaningful connections with each client that I work with. The therapeutic process is something that I value highly, and I work with each individual client to collaborate on a treatment plan and treatment modalities that work best on their unique needs.
First session
For your first session, expect to share some background information about why you are seeking treatment. We will discuss your needs as well as my therapeutic lens to see if we are a good fit for treatment. The first sessions are usually utilized to build rapport and ask any questions that clients may need to feel more confident in treatment.
Strengths
My therapeutic approach is authentic and real, which helps me build more meaningful relationships with clients. I like to be open and honest with my clients in order for them to make the most amount of progress in the time that we have to work together. I appreciate others who are transparent and authentic.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is someone who is ready for change and committed to the therapeutic process. I work well with those who are highly motivated and ready to put the work into their treatment in order to progress. I value the therapeutic relationship and work well with those who are open and honest about their goals and current symptoms requiring treatment.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I utilize CBT to identify underlying thoughts and beliefs that may be causing negative symptoms in clients' lives. After identifying those, I am able to collaborate with the client to reframe those beliefs in order to get rid of the negative symptoms.
