Hey everyone! I’m an LPC with 5 years of clinical experience. Proud graduate of The University of Georgia and Clemson University. Go Dawgs!! Love to bring client interests into the therapy space, so it creates for a more engaging experience. Whether it’s art, music, sports, pop culture, or other hobbies, we can make it a therapeutic experience. My motto is “Be as transparent as you are comfortable, so we can get you to the place where you want to be.”
First session, I simply want to review paperwork to make sure that we are good to go. I would like to share stories to see if are in a position to build a healthy and comfortable therapeutic relationship. Please tell me what you are and are not comfortable with discussing upon first intro. I do not want to deter anyone from therapy based on intimidation. I want to know who you are as a person, likes, dislikes, passions and all.
My openness to whatever experience my client brings to the table is my greatest asset. I firmly believe this is why my clients are consistent with their care and their communication with me as I never judge because I do not know their lived experiences but will validate those experiences and see what can they change to make life at least a little less difficult.
Tierra Nunn offers therapy covered by UnitedHealthcare/Optum - Medicaid in Texas.
My target goal with clients when using this modality is focusing on thought reframing!! Wanting to rid yourself of undesired emotions that don’t seem to be in your control? This is the approach. If you can accept your thoughts and not engage them, then in turn your unwanted emotions will decrease. And guess what? Your motivation to make behavioral and cognitive changes will increase😁
Interpersonal Effectiveness is what it’s all about here! Here I collaborate with clients on techniques to use to better and maintain relationships. We focus on assertiveness, boundary setting, communicating needs/wants, tone and volume setting, and self-respect.
I love all things DBT. Dialectics (achieving balance in thoughts/beliefs), Distress Tolerance (how we react to situations that we perceive as threats/crises), Mindfulness (focusing on the present), Emotional Regulation (developing skills to reduce intense/overwhelming emotions and how to reduce our symptoms associated with said emotions), and Interpersonal Effectiveness (building skills to sustain relationships). There’s so much more to share! Please reach out to me, so that I may impart some of the best tools there are.
