As a therapist specializing in serving individuals of color, I place great emphasis on promoting self-care and wellness among my clients. My goal is to assist my clients in navigating the intersectionality of their identities while prioritizing their mental, emotional, and physical well-being. I provide a supportive environment for clients to explore their unique experiences, cultural backgrounds, and societal pressures. My approach includes empowering clients to create personalized self-care routines, coping strategies, and resilience-building techniques that are tailored to their unique needs. Additionally, I provide various resources and methods to assist clients in cultivating self-awareness, establishing boundaries, coping with pressure, and fostering a sense of equilibrium and contentment in their lives.
During the initial therapy session, it is my preference to familiarize myself with my clients and establish a solid foundation for establishing a therapeutic bond. I begin by obtaining essential information about their background, current concerns, mental health history, and goals for therapy. This information facilitates the development of customized treatment plans and intervention strategies that are tailored to their distinct requirements, thereby promoting healing, resilience, and positive transformation.
With over ten years of experience working with women of color and the BIPOC community, I have developed a deep appreciation and understanding of the diverse cultural backgrounds, traditions, values, and lived experiences that clients bring into therapy. I recognize the importance of intersectionality and how race, gender, sexuality, socioeconomic status, ability, family, culture, and other aspects of identity can influence an individual’s experiences and overall well-being. One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to connect with clients through empathy, compassion, and understanding. I strive to create a safe, supportive, and validating therapeutic environment where clients feel heard, respected, and comfortable exploring their challenges, relationships, goals, and aspirations. My therapeutic approach is collaborative and strengths-based. I believe clients bring their own strengths, resilience, wisdom, and life experiences into the therapeutic process. Rather than focusing solely on problems, I help clients recognize the strengths they already possess while developing additional coping skills, healthy boundaries, self-awareness, confidence, and strategies for meaningful change. I also offer a faith-based approach for clients who desire to incorporate spirituality or faith into their therapeutic journey. I respect each client’s individual beliefs and values and integrate faith into treatment according to the client’s preferences and comfort level. For clients who do not wish to incorporate spirituality, therapy remains centered on their individual values, needs, and goals. Above all, I am committed to developing collaborative partnerships with my clients. I recognize them as experts in their own experiences and active participants in creating change. Through mutual respect, trust, empowerment, and compassion, I support clients in building upon their strengths, navigating life’s challenges, and working toward greater emotional wellness, balance, and fulfillment.
I am especially passionate about supporting individuals within the BIPOC community, particularly women of color, who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, day-to-day stressors, interpersonal or relationship difficulties, or challenges with establishing healthy boundaries. My ideal client is someone who wants to prioritize self-care and wellness, gain greater self-awareness, strengthen coping skills, and create more balance in their life. I welcome clients who are ready to explore their experiences in a safe, supportive space while recognizing their strengths and working toward meaningful personal growth.

In my practice, I often used cognitive behavioral therapy to educate my clients about the impact of their thoughts on their emotions and actions, thereby enabling them to identify and rectify their negative thought patterns. The client learns to replace negative thought patterns with more realistic and balanced ones. This involves challenging and changing distorted thoughts to promote healthier thinking. Homework is assigned to reinforce learning and encourage clients to practice new skills and strategies outside of therapy sessions.
In my practice, I often employ ACT to encourage my clients to embrace their thoughts and emotions instead of trying to control or eliminate them. Accepting their struggle with their inner experiences can reduce the emotional impact of difficult thoughts by being present, observing their thoughts and feelings without judgment. When clients are engaged in determining their core values, it is imperative to prioritize actions that align with their values, even when confronted with challenging emotions or thoughts. This approach facilitates the exploration of their true aspirations in life, fosters a sense of purpose and direction, and encourages self-care and compassion.
In my practice, I frequently employ Solution Focused Brief Treatment, which emphasizes the client's strengths, resources, and abilities rather than solely focusing on their problems. This approach enables clients to recognize their potential for transformation. Frequently furnishing the client with tangible strategies and tools that are relatively effortless to incorporate into their daily routines.
