Does your child need extra support dealing with life’s challenges? I have dedicated my career to helping children and teens by providing explicit social skill instruction, offering support navigating social relationships, developing responsible decision-making skills, and gaining confidence in themselves. I have experience working with conditions such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, behavioral concerns, trauma, and more. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Florida. I am licensed in Illinois, Michigan and Florida. I received my Master's degree from Aurora University in Illinois. I have been been a full-time School Social Worker since 2014 working in both brick and mortar and virtual schools. I became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in 2021.
Building rapport is my primary goal for our initial session. We will take some time to get to know one another and discuss the specific challenges the client is facing. I'd love to hear how the client's life is being impacted at the current time. Together, we will create a plan for us to work toward our goals in follow-up sessions.
No one therapeutic approach fits all individuals or their specific situation. My therapeutic approach is tailored to the individual and how their needs can be addressed. My biggest strength is my ability to relate to those I work with using a compassionate approach. I believe that establishing a trusting relationship is the foundation of successful therapy. I look forward to standing beside my clients to help them grow and overcome any challenges they face.
One therapeutic approach I often use is Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). This is a therapeutic approach often used to help clients develop skills for emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, distress tolerance, and mindfulness. DBT can be particularly beneficial for individuals facing challenges such as emotional dysregulation, interpersonal conflicts, academic stress, and behavioral issues. Dialectical Behavior Therapy can include teaching mindfulness techniques to help clients become more aware of their thoughts and emotions in the present moment, to provide skills training in emotional regulation to help identify and manage intense emotions effectively, to teach interpersonal effectiveness skills to help improve communication, assertiveness, and conflict resolution, and to introduce distress tolerance techniques to help clients cope with difficult situations without engaging in impulsive or harmful behaviors.
