Nice to meet you! I'm Carolyn and I founded Cultivate Counseling, LLC because I am passionate about helping individuals cultivate a life of purpose and joy. I believe that every person has unique experiences and a unique story. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive and non-judgmental environment to help individuals share their stories and discover their true potential. Through a combination of evidence-based practice and a strengths-based and client-centered approach, I offer individual counseling services in a variety of areas, including anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationships, trauma, substance abuse/ misuse and more. My goal is to provide personalized and compassionate care that helps individuals find the right path to healing and growth. Let's face it, the concept of therapy, change and taking back control of our life can be terrifying, but I'm here to show you that you don't have to do it alone and we can even find joy and laughter in the process.
In our first session, I'll introduce myself, explore what you can expect from therapy and what our first session entails. After this, we will dive right into why you are seeking therapy, additional information that may be helpful and begin to explore what you are hoping to achieve from participating in therapy. From here, we will identify goals for treatment to develop a general plan.
I specialize in working with individuals experiencing mental health symptoms, issues related to life transitions, careers, relationships, trauma and substance use/ misuse.
I am focused on working with individuals experiencing mental health, relationship issues, career issues, trauma and substance abuse. I can also work with LGBTQIA+ clients and Christian Clients as well.
I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help client's not only with Trauma and Anxiety, but to identify Negative Automatic Thoughts that are impacting their mood and daily lives in order to challenge those thoughts and correct distorted thinking.
I integrate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) into my practice to help individuals develop practical skills for managing intense emotions and improving interpersonal relationships. DBT is particularly effective for those struggling with emotional dysregulation, anxiety, depression, self-destructive behaviors, or issues like borderline personality disorder. In therapy, I help clients understand the balance between acceptance and change, encouraging them to validate their feelings while also challenging unhealthy behaviors. Through skill-building in areas like mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness, DBT empowers clients to create more balanced, fulfilling lives. I use DBT in treatment to support clients in navigating difficult life experiences with greater resilience and self-awareness. The structured approach of DBT allows clients to break down overwhelming emotions into manageable components, giving them concrete strategies to handle moments of crisis without resorting to harmful coping mechanisms. Whether working through trauma, building healthier relationships, or addressing self-esteem issues, DBT provides clients with a clear framework for making lasting change. By fostering self-compassion, tolerance for discomfort, and effective communication, DBT helps clients move toward emotional stability and improved mental well-being.
