Hi! I'm Jenn and I am a licensed mental health counselor based in Tampa, Florida. I have over 15 years of clinical experience working with people struggling with depression, anxiety, complex trauma and substance abuse as well as those just having difficulties dealing with everyday life. I enjoy working with adults, adolescents and children and love watching people increase self-awareness and create sustainable change in their lives. I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused CBT and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I use these modalities in individual, family and group settings. I take an individualized approach to every client I work with. Everyone has a unique story to tell I am here to listen and help them work through any challenges. My goal is to see my clients reach their highest potential. I want to equip them with the tools they need to succeed in all areas. I want to empower them to identify the things that could be blocking them and how to break though. My clients appreciate my authentic and genuine approach to treatment. I am truly passionate about what I do! I am excited about the opportunity to work with you!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The hope is you will leave your first session feeling a weight lifted! You will feel seen and heard. You will feel like you finally have a game plan in place to start addressing the issues in your life and creating real, sustainable change. After each session, you will be given at least one small goal to accomplish before the next session. This will mainly be to help you practice the new skills you learn in a real setting so you can provide feedback. What I find is this keeps my clients motivated and learn new ways to apply the skills in real life. It also helps them to figure out what works for them and what doesn't. The long term goal is create a toolkit of skills you can use at any time when you are having challenges. You will be able to apply these in old and new situations. You wi

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

My primary treatment method is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). This means I believe that our thoughts and beliefs impact the way we move in the world. And in order to behave or move differently, we have to start thinking differently. This is not as easy as it sounds as most of us have held on to our beliefs for decades. However, I help you challenge any unhelpful thinking styles or reframe problematic belief systems in order to create a more helpful and healthy way to view things. It takes practice and dedication but it's powerful for growth and healing!

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe my strengths are helping clients with depression and anxiety also known as mood disorders. This is because these are most helped with CBT Therapy. I have seen how learning new skills of cognitive restructuring or reframing really helps to improve depressed moods and anxiety. A benefit is once you master these skills you can apply them even if you are not working with a therapist anymore. This is why I believe in setting small goals and practicing the skills. You don't have to see a therapist forever. And if distressing feelings return after seeing a therapist, you have learned skills you can always access. Just like learning a new sport or a musical instrument.
