Hi, I'm Jenn and I am a licensed mental health counselor based in Tampa, Florida. I have over 20 years of clinical experience working with people struggling with depression, anxiety, complex trauma and substance abuse as well as those just having difficulties dealing with everyday life. I enjoy working with adults, adolescents and children and love watching people increase self-awareness and create sustainable change in their lives. I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused CBT and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I use these modalities in individual, family and group settings. I take an individualized approach to every client I work with. Everyone has a unique story to tell I am here to listen and help them work through any challenges. My goal is to see my clients reach their highest potential. I want to equip them with the tools they need to succeed in all areas. I want to empower them to identify the things that could be blocking them and how to break though. My clients appreciate my authentic and genuine approach to treatment. I am truly passionate about what I do! I am excited about the opportunity to work with you!

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Your first mental health session is about getting to know you. It isn't a test, and you don't need to have everything figured out before you come in. During the first appointment, you can expect: We'll talk about what brought you in and what you hope to get out of counseling. I'll ask questions about your mental health, medical history, relationships, work or school, and any major life events. This helps me understand the full picture. We'll discuss any current symptoms, concerns, strengths, and coping skills. You'll have time to ask questions and decide whether you feel comfortable working with me. Together, we'll begin identifying goals and discuss possible next steps for treatment. Everything you share is confidential, with a few legal exceptions. If there is concern about immediate safety—for example, if someone is at risk of seriously harming themselves or others—or in certain situations involving abuse or court orders, I may be required to share information to help keep people safe. I'll explain these limits to confidentiality before we begin. Most importantly, you don't have to tell your whole life story in one session. We'll go at a pace that feels comfortable for you, and we'll work together to create a plan that supports your goals.

The treatment methods and tools I utilize

My primary treatment method is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). This means I believe that our thoughts and beliefs impact the way we move in the world. And in order to behave or move differently, we have to start thinking differently. This is not as easy as it sounds as most of us have held on to our beliefs for decades. However, I help you challenge any unhelpful thinking styles or reframe problematic belief systems in order to create a more helpful and healthy way to view things. It takes practice and dedication but it's powerful for growth and healing!

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I believe my strengths are helping clients with depression and anxiety also known as mood disorders. This is because these are most helped with CBT Therapy. I have seen how learning new skills of cognitive restructuring or reframing really helps to improve depressed moods and anxiety. A benefit is once you master these skills you can apply them even if you are not working with a therapist anymore. This is why I believe in setting small goals and practicing the skills. You don't have to see a therapist forever. And if distressing feelings return after seeing a therapist, you have learned skills you can always access. Just like learning a new sport or a musical instrument.

Today was our first visit. I liked that she was comfortable and not all dressy or formal. She took her time and helped me along, a lot of background to go over. I was extremely comfortable telling my story and filling in some background. I look forward to Jenn helping me conquer anxieties and learn to be happy.

Jenn has been my therapist for almost three years. She is kind, empathetic, and genuine. She always listens and is open minded. She has empowering content that she shares with her clients. I am not a trusting person whatsoever, but I’d trust Jenn with my life. She is the perfect fit for me and I couldn’t see myself ever talking to any other therapist.
