Brandy Gleason
I am a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) prepared Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) who provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and personalized medication management across the lifespan.
I also integrate brief therapeutic approaches into appointments when appropriate, helping clients build practical skills and tools that support progress beyond medication alone.
I believe every person has a unique story, experiences, and set of circumstances that shape their mental health, and I do not take a one-size-fits-all approach to care. My approach is collaborative and focused on understanding the whole person, recognizing that treatment should be individualized and tailored to each person's needs and goals. While medication management is a primary focus of my practice, I also integrate brief therapeutic approaches and practical coping strategies into appointments when helpful. My goal is to help clients gain clarity, feel supported, and find an approach that helps them function and feel their best.
First session
During your first appointment, we will complete a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation designed to better understand you as a whole person, not just your symptoms. We will discuss your current concerns, symptoms, medical and mental health history, medications, family history, and other factors that may be impacting your wellbeing. I also want to understand your experiences, strengths, goals, and the unique circumstances that make your story your own. The goal of our first session is to gain clarity, establish an accurate diagnosis when possible, and begin creating an individualized treatment plan together. This may include discussing medication options, recommendations, and next steps. There is no one-size-fits-all approach, and treatment decisions are made collaboratively based on your needs and goals.
Strengths
One of my greatest strengths is taking time to look at the full picture rather than focusing on symptoms alone. I believe that accurate diagnosis and effective treatment begin with understanding the individual — their experiences, history, strengths, stressors, and goals. I do not take a one-size-fits-all approach and recognize that mental health can look different from person to person. I strive to provide thoughtful, personalized medication management while creating a collaborative environment where clients feel heard and involved in treatment decisions. I also integrate brief therapeutic approaches into appointments when appropriate, helping clients build practical skills and tools that support progress beyond medication alone.
Ideal clients
My ideal clients are individuals seeking thoughtful psychiatric evaluation, accurate diagnosis, and personalized medication management. I especially enjoy working with those navigating anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and ADHD. I work with adolescents, adults, and older adults, recognizing that mental health needs and life experiences evolve across different stages of life. Medication management is a primary focus of my practice, with an emphasis on understanding the full picture rather than simply treating symptoms. I also integrate brief therapeutic approaches into appointments when appropriate to provide practical tools, support insight, and help clients make meaningful progress. I value a collaborative approach and work with each individual to develop a treatment plan that feels personalized, realistic, and aligned with their goals.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques into medication management appointments to help address both symptoms and the patterns of thinking and behavior that may contribute to them. During our visits, we may identify unhelpful thoughts, develop coping strategies, build practical skills, and work on tools you can use in daily life. While medication can be an important part of treatment, my goal is to provide a more comprehensive approach that supports long-term wellbeing and lasting change.
Motivational Interviewing
I integrate Motivational Interviewing techniques into medication management appointments to help support meaningful and lasting change. This approach focuses on understanding your goals, exploring any mixed feelings or barriers, and helping you identify your own strengths and motivation. Rather than telling you what to do, we work together to create a plan that feels realistic, personalized, and aligned with what matters most to you.
Supportive
I integrate brief supportive therapy into medication management appointments to provide support beyond medication alone. This approach offers a space to discuss current stressors, emotions, relationships, and life challenges while building coping skills and identifying strengths. The goal is to help you feel heard, supported, and better equipped to manage difficulties as they arise.
