Hello there, I'm Shannon Loos-Vankawala, LPCC. If you're feeling overwhelmed and dissatisfied in life right now, you are not alone! I work with clients to improve: anxiety, depression, adjustment/transitions, burn out, relationships and dating, trauma, self-esteem/confidence, self-care, coping skills, and more. In order to best help, I use a person-centered, strength-based approach to help clients organize their thoughts, navigate behavior patterns and obstacles, and clarify steps toward their unique goals. I help clients to explore what might be holding them back, and uncover a way forward that is filled with acceptance and balance. My overall approach is one of creativity and trust in YOU at the present moment. When you are ready, go ahead and reach out. We can get through the struggle together.
In the first session, we will explore what brings you to therapy and relevant background information to guide our approach in future sessions.
I have experience working with clients in the LGBTQIA communities, as well as clients in alternative and/or non-monogamous relationships. I also have experience working with clients who are adult children of immigrants, and the pressure that can come from the pull of two cultures. Lastly, I operate from a non-religious, generally spiritual, standpoint, in which I am open and accepting of any spiritual path that the client feels connected to.
I work with clients who are ready to make changes in their lives.
Using CBT helps us to build concrete skills to manage difficult thoughts or behaviors.
