New to Grow
My name is Anastasia Sabga, I am an LCSW and a Florida native with Caribbean and Middle Eastern roots. I am a certified yoga teacher and a plant based eater. My passions include writing, hiking, biking, and reading. I identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community and welcome clients to come as they are. My work revolves around serving clients who struggle with their own sense of self, with family enmeshment, codependency, interpersonal issues, attachment wounds, and the spectrum of mood and personality struggles. I also work with couples and families whether it be through daily stressors, divorce, or addiction. I welcome anyone and everyone to my practice. Don't be shy, schedule an appointment with me and we will see if it is a good fit!
The first session is basically me getting to know you and your goals for therapy. If you are unsure of your goals, then we will figure them out together. As important as it is for me to get to know you, it is equally necessary for you to get to know me. Come with any questions you like and we will find out if our therapeutic relationship is a match. The first session also functions as an intake, so I will be asking some questions to explore your history and gather details about your story. You can share as little or as much as you want. After the more formal intake, we can chat and get into what ever you would like!
My greatest strength above all is rapport building. That is where the foundation of a therapeutic relationship begins. A client will not open up to a therapist if they do not see that a therapist is also human. Therapy is really two human beings connected who have shared the same spectrum of feelings, even in different worlds. My approach is to act as a guide, challenge you to meet your goals, and support you every step of the way. Clients who meet with me learn how valuable it is to love themselves as they are. The
Clients who are struggling with family conflict, codependency, enmeshment. Clients who are free spirited and part of the LGBTQ+ community, creative individuals with a thirst for knowledge and psychoeducation. Any client who is open to being challenged and wants to grow. Any individual who feels like an "outcast" or maybe that they "do not belong." Any client with mood disorders, personality disorders, or people who may struggle with anxiety and depression. There is no criteria to be my client, come as you are.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I like to say that CBT goes beyond "changing" or "reframing" negative thought processes. Rather, it aims to help the client find confidence and hope within themselves.
Attachment-based
There are so many great books on attachment, my favorite being "Attached: The new science of adult attachment and how it can help you find and keep love." Understanding attachment is the foundation for understanding how we function in relationships with others and why.
Gottman method
I have received Gottman Training on Level 1 and working on Level 2 and use this regularly with couples in my practice.
Gender-affirming therapy
I identify in the LGBTQ+ community and have worked with individuals all across the gender spectrum. My goal is to let individuals tell their story in a safe place rather than the story others have told them about themselves.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I have used DBT to help clients with self-regulation, managing relationships with others, dealing with distress, mindfulness and moving away from black and white thinking. I have implemented this in general with clients as well as with clients who specifically struggle with BPD and addiction.
