(she/her)
I am an equity and justice-focused therapist whose approach to therapy centers connection and empathy. From a humanistic-existential perspective, I view therapy as a partnership where clients are supported in embracing their inner strengths, achieving their desired goals, and developing coping skills and strategies to lead meaningful and authentic lives. I strive to meet you where you are and honor the diversity of your lived experience. You are the expert of your life. I aim to provide compassion, guidance, and a nonjudgmental, caring space for you to share your unique experiences, express your feelings, and build greater self-awareness and self-esteem. In therapy, we’ll work to address stressors and challenges and integrate meaningful changes into your daily life. In building capacity for self-exploration, emotional awareness, and resilience, we can enhance our relationships with ourselves and others, promoting a greater sense of well-being.
During our first session or intake, we’ll discuss what brings you to therapy and some of your history. From there, we’ll devise a personalized treatment plan and work to establish goals that help to address the growth and changes you seek. Although humanistic-existential in my approach, I may integrate other therapeutic modalities to meet your needs and deepen self-exploration and emotional awareness. I look forward to connecting with you and working together.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with more than a decade of experience in mental and behavioral health. I am an empathetic advocate for individuals, families, and communities with experience working in outpatient mental health, K-12, and higher education settings. I hold a Ph.D. in Human Development, Learning, and Teaching, and as a researcher, I strive to integrate trauma-informed policies and practices, enhance mental health training and services, and promote equity in schools and communities. I am also an educator who specializes in teaching counseling trainees and other helping professionals foundational counseling theories and interventions necessary to become effective and skillful counselors.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
I take a humanistic-existential approach, which means we work together to better understand how you think, what you value, and how you respond to stress and competing demands. We’ll look at how your values, identity, and relationships show up in your day-to-day life, and where things might feel out of sync. The goal is to help you feel more grounded, make clearer decisions, and find ways of handling stress that actually fit who you are.
