Hello! My name is Genna Weisheit and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Indiana. I have a Master of Social Work from IUPUI and have worked in human services and social work since 2013. I approach therapy from a trauma informed and collaborative mindset utilizing a variety of evidenced based practices and interventions. I enjoy providing a comfortable and safe space for clients to authentically work on their goals to improve their life. I am empathetic, understanding, and have a straight forward communication style.
In our first session together, I'll provide information regarding my practice and what to expect from therapy. I will ask for information about you, your specific challenges, and your goals in order to create a plan for treatment together.
My professional and lived experiences allow me to provide clients with a grounded perspective that focuses on authenticity, individual strengths, and self acceptance.
I work well with individuals that are highly motivated to address their challenges, are ready to be empowered to address challenges, and are open to straight forward feedback. I find that therapy is most beneficial when clients engage consistently and meaningfully in sessions, are open to solutions, and are willing to engage in the strategies that we identify together in session, outside of session as well.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to assist clients with learning how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are interconnected, explore strategies to reduce and improve unhelpful thinking traps, and improve overall functioning.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I utilize Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to assist clients with learning specific skills to manage intense emotions utilizing techniques such as distress tolerance, mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, and emotional regulation.
EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidenced based intervention that has been shown to be effective with PTSD and trauma. I utilize EMDR to assist clients with reprocessing traumatic experiences while engaging in bilateral stimulation such as eye movements. This structured intervention is effective for reducing emotional disturbance associated with traumatic memories.
Somatic
I utilize somatic interventions to assist clients with learning to feel how their emotions show up in their body, explore strategies to process and regulate emotional responses, and fully integrate their mind and body.

Although I've only had one appointment with Genna, I can tell we're going to be a great fit. She asks meaningful questions and is overall a warm energy, I didn't feel like I couldn't tell her anything.
