Dr. Uche has more than twelve years of experience in healthcare and more than 10 years in mental health. The focus of my practice is offering assessments and diagnoses of various mental health disorders and behavioral issues. I enjoy working with patients of all ages and backgrounds to find the most suitable treatment model based on their diagnoses and mental health needs. These include pharmacological interventions where we discuss treatment goals and guide the patient to take approved medications to help them meet their therapeutic goals. I also work with other mental and behavioral health specialists such as Licensed Professional Counselors to provide non-pharmacological treatment such as counseling and psychotherapy.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

We will start by establishing a comfortable, confidential space where you can share your concerns. I'll gather important information about your mental and physical health history, current symptoms, and any challenges you're facing. Together, we'll explore your goals for treatment and discuss potential options, such as therapy or medication. My approach will be collaborative, ensuring that you feel involved in the decision-making process regarding your care. We will track your progress, meet regularly based on your treatment plans, and refill or adjust your medication(s) as needed.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a provider, I believe my greatest strengths lie in my ability to listen empathetically, build strong therapeutic relationships, and tailor treatment to each individual’s needs. I strive to create a space where clients feel heard and understood, which helps establish trust and openness. I’m also committed to being collaborative in the treatment process, recognizing that each person’s experiences, values, and goals are unique. This allows me to integrate a variety of evidence-based approaches, whether that's medication, psychotherapy, or a combination of both, to provide the most effective care. Additionally, I aim to remain non-judgmental and supportive, always focused on helping clients feel empowered in their mental health journey.

My treatment methods

Supportive

Supportive therapy is a therapeutic approach aimed at providing emotional support and helping individuals cope with their challenges by focusing on strengthening their existing coping mechanisms, enhancing resilience, and promoting overall emotional well-being. Emotional Support: A cornerstone of supportive therapy is the validation and understanding of the client’s feelings and experiences. This creates a safe, non-judgmental space for individuals to express themselves. Reassurance and Encouragement: Often, clients may feel overwhelmed by their challenges. The therapist offers reassurance that they can manage their difficulties, helping to reduce anxiety and build self-confidence. Strengthening Coping Mechanisms: Supportive therapy helps individuals build on their existing strengths and coping mechanisms. This could involve identifying positive resources in their life, such as social support, personal strengths, or previously successful coping strategies. Problem-Solving and Guidance: While not a solution-focused therapy, supportive therapy can help individuals organize their thoughts, clarify options, and make decisions. Therapists may help clients approach life problems with a constructive and pragmatic mindset. Therapeutic Alliance: A strong, empathetic relationship between therapist and client is central to this approach. The therapist creates a sense of trust and safety, making it easier for clients to express themselves openly.
