First session

What to Expect in Your First Session With Me If you’re feeling a little nervous about your first session—that’s completely normal. But here’s the good news: this is a safe, judgment-free space where you can show up exactly as you are. My goal is to make sure you feel heard, understood, and supported from the very start. Step 1: Getting to Know You We’ll begin with an open and honest conversation. I’ll ask about: ✅ What brought you in and what challenges you’ve been facing ✅ Your mental health history—past diagnoses, treatments, medications (if any) ✅ Your current lifestyle, relationships, stressors, and overall well-being ✅ Any physical health concerns that might be affecting your mental health This is not just about gathering information—it’s about understanding you as a whole person, not just your symptoms. Step 2: Setting Goals Together Once I have a better understanding of your situation, we’ll talk about what you want to get out of treatment. Do you want to manage anxiety or depression more effectively? Are you struggling with past trauma or addiction? Do you need help finding the right medication (or adjusting your current one)? Are you looking for coping strategies to navigate life’s challenges? Your goals will guide our work together, and I’ll make sure you feel empowered and in control of your treatment. Step 3: Treatment Planning Depending on your needs, we’ll discuss possible treatment options, which may include: 🧠 Therapeutic strategies – coping skills, mindfulness, behavioral techniques 💊 Medication management – if medication is appropriate, I’ll explain options, answer questions, and ensure you feel comfortable with the plan 🔄 Next steps – follow-up scheduling, resources, and what to expect moving forward Step 4: A Safe, Judgment-Free Space There’s no pressure to have all the answers, say the “right” thing, or even share everything at once. Healing is a journey, and I’m here to meet you where you are. You can ask questions, express concerns, or even just take it slow—we go at your pace. What You’ll Walk Away With After Your First Session: ✔ A better understanding of what’s going on and why you feel the way you do ✔ A clear, personalized plan for your mental health journey ✔ A sense of relief—knowing you’re no longer facing this alone This is your space. Your journey. And I’m here to help you every step of the way.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a practical, evidence-based approach I employ to help patients manage anxiety, depression, PTSD, ADHD, and more by changing negative thought patterns and behaviors. What to Expect: 🔹 Short-term, structured therapy (8–20 sessions). 🔹 Goal-oriented treatment focused on lasting change. 🔹 Personalized to your needs and progress.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

DBT is a type of therapy that helps people who experience strong emotions and struggle with stress, relationships, or impulsive behaviors. It teaches practical skills that you can use in everyday life to regulate emotions, manage distress, and improve relationships. Our sessions will focus on learning these skills, and I will guide you in applying them to real-life situations. Over time, you’ll feel more in control and better able to handle challenges without becoming overwhelmed

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing, or MI, is a collaborative conversation that helps you explore your own motivations for making positive changes in your life. It's not about me telling you what to do—it's about working together to help you discover your reasons for change and how to make it happen in a way that feels right for you

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

ACT is a type of therapy that helps you stop struggling with painful thoughts and emotions and instead focus on living a meaningful life. Instead of trying to ‘get rid of’ negative feelings, ACT teaches you how to accept them, so they don’t control your actions

Interpersonal

Interpersonal Therapy, or IPT, is a short-term, structured therapy that focuses on improving your relationships and communication skills to help with emotional and mental health challenges. It is based on the idea that our relationships and social interactions deeply affect our mental well-being.
