"Smooth Seas don't make skillful sailors" -African Proverb I've been in clinical practice for over 20 years. I am a Graduate of the University Of Connecticut and later attended Southern California University for Professional Studies. In addition to being clinically orientated, I have an academic concentration in Healthcare administration, policy, and planning and a certificate from Cornell University with a focus on Nutrition and it's effectives on our mental health. My clients are given a nonjudgmental, accepting space to explore issues, and are guided to move towards growth and change. I incorporate mindfulness strategies, as well as techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to assist my clients with challenging previous ineffective ways of thinking. Issues I treat include trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, life transitions, managing stress, and relationship challenges, addictions, Men's issues, and concerns particular to cultural matters. I look forward to helping you navigate the challenges you face.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I believe that the strength of the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important parts of therapy. My work with you is individualized. While I expect that your first visit may bring up some jitters, please know that your journey will be a team effort. I'll help you through the process. I'll encourage you to bring your laundry list of items you'd like to discuss. While we may not get to cover everything on your list, it's important that I get a basic sense of what you're facing. I listen closely to determine your particular needs while taking into consideration your background, strengths and goals. After a review of your information, mutually we'll chart a course of treatment for you.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Active listening and humor has aided the process of quickly engaging clients in the therapeutic process. It has also helped many to find ways to draw on their unrealized inner strength. By learning the value of giving themselves permission to use their ingenuity while remaining solution focused, real sustainable change has occurred. Clients quickly accept and learn that navigating turbulence in life is something they can achieve. By applying complementary therapeutic approaches and techniques, my clients have been assisted with adjusting age-old behavior patterns, or negative thought perceptions that may have held them back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life. As a part of this therapeutic team, I'm present, versatile viewing each client as an individual while meeting each where they are at. Mutual accountably is also encouraged.

Culturally sensitive therapy has been a useful psychotherapy approach that takes into consideration the therapist's understanding of a client's background and belief system as it relates to their race, ethnicity, gender, or other important factors that contribute to an individuals culture and/or identity.

Couples Counseling

Relationship/couples therapy focuses on ways to improve the communication within the relationship while promoting exchanges that are mutually respectful and solution focused.

Faith based therapy

To promote personal growth, IFS therapy is used to help people identify and accept the different parts of themselves (aspects of their personality) that act in ways that either have the capacity of being self enhancing or be self defeating. The goal is to help the client correct problematic behavior patterns.
