Ana Madera-Valdez
Hello, I’m Ana Madera-Valdez, PMHNP-BC, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner providing compassionate, evidence-based care to adults and older adults. I specialize in the treatment of anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, stress-related concerns, and sleep difficulties through a combination of medication management and supportive therapeutic interventions. As a bilingual provider fluent in English and Spanish, I strive to create a welcoming, culturally sensitive environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered in their mental health journey. My approach is collaborative, practical, and focused on helping clients achieve meaningful improvements in their emotional well-being, daily functioning, and overall quality of life.
First session
During our first session, we will take time to get to know one another and discuss what brings you to treatment. I will review your current concerns, symptoms, medical and mental health history, medications, lifestyle factors, and treatment goals to gain a comprehensive understanding of your needs. Together, we will develop a personalized treatment plan that may include medication management, supportive therapy, coping strategies, and referrals when appropriate. My goal is to provide a comfortable, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, supported, and actively involved in decisions about your care. By the end of our first appointment, you can expect to have a clearer understanding of your diagnosis, treatment options, and next steps.
Strengths
I bring a compassionate, collaborative, and practical approach to mental health care. With experience caring for individuals across a variety of healthcare settings, I understand that mental health is closely connected to physical health, life circumstances, relationships, and daily stressors. I take time to listen, understand each person’s unique experiences, and develop individualized treatment plans that align with their goals and values. As a bilingual English and Spanish-speaking provider, I am committed to delivering culturally sensitive care in an environment where clients feel comfortable, respected, and understood. My approach combines evidence-based medication management with education, supportive therapy, and practical coping strategies to help clients achieve lasting improvements in their emotional well-being and quality of life.
Ideal clients
I work best with adults and older adults experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, stress, sleep difficulties, life transitions, and mood-related concerns. Many of my clients are balancing careers, family responsibilities, chronic medical conditions, caregiving roles, or significant life changes. As a bilingual English and Spanish-speaking psychiatric nurse practitioner, I provide culturally sensitive, evidence-based medication management and supportive therapeutic interventions in a collaborative and compassionate environment.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques into medication management visits to help clients identify unhelpful thought patterns, improve coping skills, and develop healthier behavioral responses. I frequently use CBT strategies when treating anxiety, depression, stress-related concerns, adjustment difficulties, and insomnia. My approach is practical, goal-oriented, and focused on helping clients build skills they can apply in everyday life
Culturally Sensitive Therapy
I provide culturally sensitive care that recognizes the impact of culture, family values, language, identity, and life experiences on mental health. As a bilingual provider, I work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and strive to create a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel understood and respected. I tailor treatment plans to align with each client’s unique cultural beliefs, values, and goals.
Motivational Interviewing
Fits medication management extremely well. Great for adherence, lifestyle changes, weight management, substance use, and behavioral change. Matches your experience with chronic illness, diabetes, obesity, and mental health.
