New to Grow
Hi! I'm Kristen and I've been practicing for close to 20 years. I've worked with children and families as well as adults in the criminal justice system. I really enjoy telehealth therapy due to the flexibility it offers both myself and the people I serve. I presently work full time in a male correctional facility and provide outpatient therapy part time in the evenings. I have two adult children and two cats. To help support my own wellness, I love to hike and be in nature, I practice yoga, and I'm a big reader.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Our first session will be spent with me gathering information and getting to know you, and with you helping me to understand what is bringing you to therapy. We will talk about your goals and what you hope to improve in our time together. You can also ask me questions and make sure you are comfortable with having me as your therapist. Having a good fit with the therapeutic relationship is a must!
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My greatest strength is in building meaningful connection with others. While the world and all of our unique problems are often heavy and overwhelming, I feel that when we can make meaningful connection with others, grounded in empathy and humor, that load can be considerably eased.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I most frequently work with clients who are navigating anxiety or depression who want supportive, practical strategies to ease their symptoms, feel more grounded and in control, and deepen their understanding of themselves in a compassionate, honest way.
Eclectic
My approach to therapy is eclectic, drawing on Mindfulness based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy approaches.
