My name is Kristen Fahey, CRNP, PMHNP-BC, and I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and U.S. Marine Corps veteran. I am the owner of True North Body & Mind LLC, where I provide compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care for adolescents and adults through both telehealth and in-person appointments. My practice focuses on comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and supportive psychotherapy for conditions such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD, bipolar disorder, OCD, and other mental health concerns. I believe in partnering with each patient to create an individualized treatment plan that supports long-term wellness, resilience, and improved quality of life.

First session

our first appointment is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation designed to help me understand you as a whole person—not just your symptoms. We'll discuss your current concerns, mental health history, medical history, medications, family history, lifestyle, and the goals you have for treatment. This is a collaborative, judgment-free conversation where you can share your experiences openly. Together, we'll identify what may be contributing to your symptoms and develop a personalized treatment plan that fits your needs. This may include medication management, psychotherapy, lifestyle recommendations, or referrals when appropriate. By the end of your first session, you can expect to have a better understanding of your diagnosis (if one is appropriate), a clear treatment plan, and plenty of time to ask questions. My goal is to ensure you feel heard, respected, and confident about the next steps in your mental health journey.

Strengths

believe the strongest therapeutic relationships are built on trust, compassion, and collaboration. I take the time to truly listen and understand each person's unique experiences rather than offering a one-size-fits-all approach. Every treatment plan is individualized, combining evidence-based medication management with supportive psychotherapy, education, and practical strategies that help clients make meaningful progress. Clients often appreciate that I create a calm, nonjudgmental environment where they feel comfortable discussing even the most difficult topics. My goal is not only to reduce symptoms but also to help clients understand their mental health, build resilience, and develop the tools needed for long-term wellness. As both a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and a United States Marine Corps veteran, I value honesty, respect, accountability, and perseverance. Whether someone is seeking help for anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD, bipolar disorder, or another mental health concern, I strive to provide thoughtful, evidence-based care that empowers clients to achieve lasting improvement and a better quality of life.

Ideal clients

enjoy working with adults who are motivated to improve their mental health and are looking for a collaborative partner in their care. My clients may be experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD, bipolar disorder, trauma-related concerns, or other challenges that are affecting their daily lives, relationships, or work. Whether someone is seeking treatment for the first time or has struggled to find an approach that works, they are welcome. The ideal client doesn't need to have everything figured out—they simply need to be open to honest communication and willing to work together toward meaningful goals. I value clients who want to better understand their mental health, actively participate in treatment decisions, and are committed to making gradual, sustainable progress. My goal is to provide individualized, evidence-based care that helps clients reduce symptoms, build resilience, and improve their overall quality of life.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we identify unhelpful thinking patterns and beliefs that contribute to symptoms such as anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, or difficulty coping. I work collaboratively with clients to challenge these patterns, develop healthier ways of thinking, and practice practical coping skills that can be applied in everyday life. My approach to CBT is goal-oriented, evidence-based, and tailored to each individual's needs. Sessions may include identifying cognitive distortions, developing problem-solving strategies, practicing behavioral changes, learning relaxation and grounding techniques, and creating realistic goals between appointments. Whether used alongside medication management or as part of psychotherapy, CBT helps clients build lasting skills that promote emotional resilience, improve daily functioning, and support long-term mental wellness.
