Hello ... I am a licensed clinical social worker. I have a master of social work degree from North Carolina A&T State University and UNC at Greensboro. I have provided counseling to many in my community in diverse employment roles across the field of social work. Some include experience working in inpatient psychiatry, medicine, hospice, and dialysis at a community hospital, and mobile crisis clinician with a community mental health agency; and finally VA Health Care. I take pride in my ability to connect with others and help them meet personal and/or professional goals. In my spare time, I love to read psychological thrillers, listen to my favorite podcasts and audiobooks, play Match 3D on my phone, and watch movies with my son.
In our first session, I want to get to know you. I strive to understand your strengths, concerns, and goals.
I thrive on my ability to connect and partner with clients to give them the effective tools to navigate life's challenges. I use active listening and understand the benefits of building rapport with my clients.
I have had success in helping clients change unhelpful or unhealthy ways of thinking, feeling, and behaving.
I encourage clients to discuss their feelings, concerns, and problems in a safe, non-judgmental environment.
I have assisted couples in increasing their understanding, respect, affection, and intimacy with each other.
I have experience with encouraging clients to express change talk as the pathway to change
I provide clients with information and support to better understand and cope with mental illness
