Welcome! My name is Marissa, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania. Do you sometimes feel like you can't quite accomplish what you want - in your personal life, work, or relationships? Does your mind get bogged down or overwhelmed with all of those thoughts and things you want or wish you could be achieving? I believe that everyone deserves to be heard, while owning the ability to work through the situations that arise during our lives. My goal is to partner with you to work through what brings you to this point in your life, and to assist in navigating through your goals to continue on your life path while finding balance in your life. I treat everyone as an individual, with a warm and caring, while direct approach. I offer a judgement free environment with the focus on your goals and open communication, both I believe are essential to our therapeutic relationship. Whether you are working through anxiety, relationship or sexual concerns, family conflict, or grief and loss, I am here to provide you with a compassionate environment to explore all areas that make you who you are. I look forward to partnering with you to make positive changes in your life.
In our first session, we will share short introductions and you will have the opportunity to ask me any questions you may have. I then like to delve in to what brought you to seek out counseling, while getting to know you as a person. At times I may choose to utilize some thought-provoking intake questionnaires to help guide us through getting to know one another while we explore some areas of future goals to work through together.
I truly view each person I work with as an individual, and value the areas you would like to grow in. I have specialized training in trauma, neurodiversity, and behavior disorders. I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of settings including in-home, community, and group homes.
I find my passion is in working with individual clients who are working through anxiety concerns, grief and loss. A primary area of professional focus is also engaging with couples who find themselves tackling communication dynamics, along with trust and sexual issues in the relationship.
I have found exploring what each partner wants or needs for themselves as individuals as well as in the relationship is a cornerstone to rebuilding or strengthening a partnership. During this phase, active listening and responding to one another is a key practice to structuring the couple interactions both in and outside of session.
