Akisha Russell
Life can be challenging, but you don't have to face it alone. I'm Akisha, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and founder of The Answer Within Counseling Services.
With 10 years of experience in private practice and over 15 years as a school counselor, my goal is to support you on your journey to becoming your best self.
I help adolescents and adults navigate anxiety, stress, relationships, self-esteem, and life transitions through warm, solution-focused therapy, helping clients gain clarity, confidence, practical tools, hope, resilience, and lasting change while feeling truly supported throughout their journey.
First session
Your first session is all about you. We'll talk about what brought you to therapy, learn more about your story, identify goals that matter to you, and create a treatment plan together. My goal is for you to leave feeling heard, supported, and hopeful about the path ahead
Strengths
Clients often tell me they feel comfortable opening up because our sessions feel like genuine conversations. I listen without judgment, ask thoughtful questions that encourage new perspectives, and help you turn insight into practical steps for meaningful change.
Ideal clients
I work best with people who are tired of carrying everything on their own. Many of my clients are used to being the strong one for everyone else, leaving little space to care for themselves. Therapy offers a place where you don't have to have all the answers or worry about being judged. Together, we'll talk honestly, gain new perspective, and focus on practical steps that help you move forward with confidence.
Treatment methods
Person-centered (Rogerian)
Person-Centered Therapy begins with building a trusting relationship where you feel heard, respected, and understood. I believe you are the expert on your own life. My role is to listen without judgment, ask thoughtful questions, and help you uncover your strengths, gain new perspectives, and move toward the life you want.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients recognize how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are connected. Together, we'll identify unhelpful patterns, challenge negative thinking, and develop practical strategies that support healthier choices and lasting change. My goal is to give you tools you can use long after our sessions end.
