Hi! My name is Dr. Chantel Smith. I am a very empathic and down-to-earth clinician. My purpose is to heal the hurt of others. I am very committed to providing psychotherapy and am invested in my clients' wellbeing. I received a bachelor's degree in psychology from The Ohio State University, master's in clinical social work from the University of Maryland, PhD ABD in social work from Howard University, and PhD in psychology from Liberty University. I would love to share the tools I have learned with you.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During the first session, I tend to ask more questions because I am interested in learning how to best support you. I want to know about your childhood, support system, medical history, what brings you to counseling, etc. I may also give you a brief questionnaire (or two). The intake paperwork is important because it addresses a lot of those areas. During our session, I will not judge. I actively listen and provide support. While building rapport, we explore your feelings and behaviors. We will then work together to identify your goals and learn to implement practical solutions for aspects of your life you hope to better understand or improve. Sessions moving forward are eclectic- providing a range of tools for your toolbox. During sessions, I hope you feel empowered to share the things that are helpful and the modalities that are a good fit.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My sessions are highly effective because I empower clients and equip them with numerous skills to cope through life’s most challenging issues. I have a softer side, but my resume boasts many achievements.
