Hi, I’m Jacob, a board-certified psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner. Before moving into psychiatry, I spent five years as an ER nurse, so I’m comfortable with big emotions and hard conversations, and nothing you share will shock me.

You don’t have to have it all figured out. Come as you are, and we’ll build a plan together

I’ve worked across outpatient, intensive outpatient, and residential dual-diagnosis settings, and with older adults too. Outside of work, you’ll find me spending time with my wife and daughter, running, cooking, or hanging out with my dog, Charlie. My goal is a space where you feel respected, heard, and never rushed.

First session

Your first visit is a relaxed conversation, not an interrogation. I’ll ask about what’s bringing you in, your sleep, mood, energy, health history, and what you’ve tried before, and you can share as much or as little as you’re comfortable with. You’ll leave with a clear understanding of what’s going on, a plan that fits your life, and answers to your questions about therapy and medication. If medication makes sense, we’ll talk through the options, benefits, and risks together, and nothing happens without your okay.

Strengths

I bring a rare blend of medical and therapeutic skills. As a nurse practitioner, I look at the whole picture, including sleep, physical health, stress, relationships, and, when it’s right for you, medication. As a husband and dad, I understand how parenting, work, and relationships all shape mental health. I use solution-focused and narrative approaches, so we spend less time stuck in the problem and more time building on your strengths and rewriting your story. You’ll find me warm, direct, and judgment-free, and you’ll always have a say in your care.

Ideal clients

My ideal client is someone who is ready to feel better but isn’t sure where to start. You might be dealing with anxiety, depression, ADHD, or stress that has started to affect your sleep, relationships, or work, and you may also be navigating alcohol or substance use along the way. You may have tried things before that didn’t stick, or you may be wondering whether medication could help. You don’t need to have it all figured out, and you won’t be judged for where you are right now. I work best with people who are open, curious, and willing to take small steps, and who want a partner in their care rather than someone who just hands out a prescription. If you’re juggling a lot, like family, a career, or caring for aging parents, I get it, and I’d be glad to help.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT in a practical, brief way that fits into medication management visits. We look at how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors affect each other, and I help you spot patterns like negative self-talk, worry spirals, or avoidance that keep you stuck. From there, we practice simple tools you can use right away, such as reframing unhelpful thoughts, small behavior changes, sleep and routine strategies, and coping skills for anxiety or low mood. It works well alongside medication, and we keep it focused on your goals so you can see real progress in everyday life.
