Hi, I am a therapist who specializes in working with trauma, grief/bereavement and many other life adjustments. I am dedicated to working with my clients. My goal when working with clients is to help them achieve personal growth, satisfaction, and fulfillment, through self-exploration and self-actualization. I cannot tell you what you need, but I can help you discover your answers. In that, there is self-empowerment, recovery, and growth. I graduated in 2015 from Bellevue University with a Masters's Degree in Science in Clinical Counseling. This has not been an easy journey for me as I did not know that counseling was my calling until I experienced my tragedy and needed to find recovery for myself and my family. I am no stranger to pain, and I know the challenges that are faced when recovering from such devastating events. I have achieved recovery, it has not been easy, but I know recovery is achievable. I will not tell you that recovery is erasing all the bad things that have happened, but it is learning to accept the outcomes and finding new ways to move forward with your life in meaningful ways. I would love to help you on that journey.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Board Certified Counselor by the National Board of Certified Counselors. I am a Certified EMDRIA Consultant and Certified EMDR therapist specializing in the treatment of Grief/Loss, and Trauma recovery. I have extensive experience working with Veterans working to resolve trauma contributing to PTSD and Complex PTSD. In addition, I have extensive experience in crisis stabilization. I am passionate about working with individuals who have experienced loss and assisting them with grief management. I am certified in (EMDR) Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing, trained in (CPT) Cognitive Processing Therapy, Certified in (IPT) Interpersonal Therapy, and trained in Motivational Interviewing and Children's Play Therapy. I earned a Master of Science degree in Clinical Counseling from Bellevue University and worked for the Local Mental Health Authority for four years before making a move to work in the Children and Adolescent Psychiatry Department for TTUHSC. While working at the Mental Health Authority of El Paso I had the opportunity to work in the Crisis stabilization unit, Veterans Clinic, the Central Outpatient services, and also for Court Services as a Forensic therapist. In addition, I worked at EPBHS Psychiatric Hospital, When working with clients I feel it is of utmost importance to maintain confidentiality and respect while assisting clients in the recovery process. I believe myself to be a kind and caring therapist and do my best to maintain a professional environment for clients to explore emotions and underlying discomfort while building a strong professional rapport and a strong therapeutic alliance. I invite you to participate in a journey of self-discovery and increased self-worth while developing and fine-tuning mindfulness and inner peace. There is so much to be learned in this life, and it is a whole lot easier when the journey is not alone.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

My therapeutic approach and theoretical orientation are strongly influenced by Carl Rodgers as well as Mr. Rodgers from the television show Mr. Rogers Neighborhood and Garry Landreth. They simply had a way of being accepting and compassionate and understanding that could touch a person's spirit in a way that was comforting and aided in growth. I do strive to embody the teachings of these mentors. In addition to Person/Client-centered therapy, I am also quite eclectic in the modalities I access and use in my sessions. I find pulling from therapeutic modalities whenever helpful to be of great value when assisting clients in overcoming challenges.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My biggest strength in counseling is being a partner to my clients. I understand you are on a journey and I am here to support that journey. I am not here to judge or tell a client what they must do. I am here to support you in finding your answers, sorting through painful experiences, and resolving the discomfort from life's intricacies.
