Cindi Christiansen
I have been in practice for over 21 years. My theoretical orientation is Cognitive Behavioral and I believe and research has shown that the thoughts we have determine our behavior which behavior will determine the path we take through life. I find great fulfilment in watching my clients become the best version of themselves. I bring a plethora of experience to the profession and have a passion for what I do.
First session
I have been told I am "down to earth" and "real." These descriptors I would like to believe. My clients experience no judgment in our therapy room. They feel heard and appreciated and thankful they had made the decision to enter the path of self-improvement.
Strengths
I feel my approach to therapy is effective. My clients feel comfortable, heard, and cared for from the first session. I bring a wealth of experience to my therapy room, which affords me a deep empathetic understanding of my clients. The majority of my training has been done in crisis intervention and addiction and over the last 21 years I have treated a variety of mental disorders.
Ideal clients
Reaching out for mental health treatment is a risk. My clients realize that there is no growth without this risk. My clients enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, which I offer; a place where it is all right to be vulnerable. I delight in joining my clients on their journey of recognizing what a remarkable person they are and that they can accomplish anything they set their mind to.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I believe and the data proves that our thought processes determine our behavior. I work extensively with the automatic negative dysfunctional thought process and the narrative which continually runs through our head.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
To perform at our peak it is important to come from calm within. Through the practice of mindfulness, including deep breathing and gratitude, this calm is accomplished.
