Hi! I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) based in Florida. I received my Masters from Troy University and I'm a certified trauma professional. My hope is to work with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder. I'm passionate about helping people better understand the neurobiology of their brains to help them realize they're in more control over their emotions than they realize and can gain the tools they need to regain confidence, joy, and peace in their lives.
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions. I will always follow your lead and will never press you to talk about anything you're not ready to talk about. We will dip our toes in the therapy pool so please come knowing you'll be in a safe and comfortable environment with me. Our partnership is completely collaborative so I will be able to answer any questions you may have as well!
Having worked extensively with people who have experienced trauma over the past three years, I have been able to collaborate with so many to help them bring back joy and peace into their lives. It's what I love to do!
I love working with adults who have had difficulty navigating life after trauma. My clients are eager to improve their quality of life but don't yet have the tools needed to make this goal a reality. They often feel stuck, overwhelmed and anxious and need help on their journey.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) offers several benefits, including helping individuals identify and change negative thought patterns, develop coping mechanisms for managing stress and difficult situations, improve emotional regulation, build self-esteem, and effectively treat mental health conditions like anxiety and depression by providing practical strategies to address challenges in a more positive way
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) primarily benefits individuals by significantly reducing symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) by helping them identify and challenge negative thoughts related to their traumatic experience, leading to improved daily functioning, reduced distress around trauma memories, and a better ability to manage emotions like anxiety, anger, guilt, and shame; essentially allowing them to reframe their understanding of the traumatic event and its impact on their life.
Psychoeducation can help people understand their mental health and develop coping strategies. It can improve their psychological wellness, increase self-awareness, and help them feel in control of their health.
Motivational interviewing (MI) in counseling offers several benefits, including: increasing a client's intrinsic motivation to change, fostering a collaborative relationship with the counselor, resolving ambivalence about change, enhancing self-efficacy, empowering clients to make their own decisions, and improving engagement in the therapeutic process by allowing clients to identify their own reasons for change rather than being directed by the counselor.
A mind-body approach in counseling offers several benefits, including improved emotional regulation, enhanced self-awareness, better stress management, increased resilience, a deeper understanding of the connection between thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations, and the ability to address both psychological and physical symptoms holistically, potentially leading to more comprehensive healing and improved overall well-being.
