Hello, my name is Katie Beck! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Delaware. I am passionate about working with clients one on one to discover their individual needs in order to create a meaningful and lasting change. As humans we are faced with challenges, and from those challenges there is no limit to how much we can grow. We are all unique, but I believe that we are all capable of learning new coping strategies and adapting to, or even making needed changes in our lives. I would be honored to be a part of your journey.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session we will introduce ourselves and have the opportunity to explore any worries that may arise in the beginning of counseling. We will explore basic background information, explore what brought you into counseling, discuss how the counseling journey generally works, create goals, and answer any relevant questions you may have. The first session is important to creating a positive theraputic relationship, and is a glimpse of what working together will look like. The first session will end with the creation of a goal for the week, and scheduling your next appointment.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

In my career I have worked hard to harness my personal experience and translate that into an empathetic, caring, and compassionate space.

My treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

We are all humans with an inherent ability to change. I use this method primarily, and provide a non-judgmental environment in which you can explore and grow safely. You are the expert on you- I am here to assist you and hold a guiding light and space.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavior Therapy offers valuable tools that assist in the theraputic process. I use this method to assist you in exploring the present, as well as breaking down problems while using helpful exercises to help you become more aware of your own thought patterns and behaviors.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I use Mindfulness-Based Therapy to help incorporate mindfulness, relaxation, and awareness practices in counseling to assist you in working with day to day emotions, and learning to redirect thoughts, sit with thoughts, and achieve a healthier relationship with your body in a non-judgemental way.
