My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I’ve been using CBT in my practice for over 8 years. It’s helped many clients learn to challenge unhealthy thoughts and manage their anxiety. We’ll use CBT to learn to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. We’ll then use that knowledge to reframe your thinking patterns, which will help lessen anxiety and life stressors.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational interviewing is a conversational style approach that helps you find the motivation within yourself to make meaningful changes you want in your life. So, instead of someone telling you what you should or shouldn't do, we'll work together to explore your thoughts, feelings, and goals related to change. Change is often accompanied by conflicting feelings so we'll delve into any mixed feelings you might have about making changes. I've found this approach to be very effective in helping clients understand both the reasons they want to change and the reasons they might be hesitant.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness therapy is an approach I LOVE incorporating into my practice. This approach helps us learn and practice focusing our attention on the present moment, rather than dwelling on the past or worrying too much about the future. By cultivating present-moment awareness, clients become more skillful at recognizing their automatic thoughts, bodily sensations, and reactions and learn to respond to situations more skillfully.
