Los Angeles native Stephanie Anyakwo received her undergraduate degree at Loyola Marymount University, majoring in Psychology and African American Studies. She continued her education at Azusa Pacific University where she received her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy. Additionally, she studied Applied Behavior Analysis at Florida Institute of Technology, becoming a Board Certified Behavior Analyst in 2014 and became a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in 2016. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Board Certified Behavior Analysts, Stephanie combines her over 10- years of experience in ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) with her practice of Psychotherapy. This fusion brings a unique style to assisting adults, children, and families with achieving their goals, while creating a space for individuals to feel secure and connect with self. Throughout her career, she has provided therapy to clients within various communities, schools, and agencies, as well as through private practice. Stephanie’s role is not to push her own agenda; conversely, she works collaboratively with all clients to set goals, provide evidenced-based and mindful strategies to help achieve these goals, and engages in positive reinforcement throughout the journey. Society may foster this belief that seeking help is a sign of weakness. Stephanie believes that the strongest thing any human being can do is to connect with another person to heal, grow, and remain balanced.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

The key to therapeutic services is to make sure there is a level of comfort for the client to build rapport and explore experiences without feeling shame or judgment. On the first session, you will have the opportunity to review and complete all necessary paperwork and ask the therapist, Stephanie, any questions you may have. At the onset of therapy, Stephanie will explain her theoretical orientation, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy, which are the theories used to understand your story, and assist with creating achievable goals to guide you on your journey.
