Hi! My name is Carlos Castillo, and I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas. For over a decade, I have helped people transition out of some of the most difficult stages of their lives.
Our first session together will be spent getting to know each other, as well as treatment planning. I work to ensure that my clients are getting exactly what they need out of counseling. In order to do this, we will spend our first session carefully identifying goals, and hashing out the details needed to achieve those goals.
A long time ago, my mentor taught me that our ears are the greatest gift you can offer to somebody. To be present, truly present with somebody; in their suffering, in their happiness can be a life-changing experience. I hope you can allow me the opportunity to share this gift with you. I look forward to meeting you soon!
I have worked with ex-convicts, drug users, veterans, retirees, immigrants, college grads, as well as terminally ill/chronically ill populations. Additionally, I am experienced working with Military/Veterans, First Gen American/Immigrant Parents, and LGBTQIA+ populations.
Carlos P. Castillo offers therapy covered by UnitedHealthcare/Optum - Medicaid in Texas.
I am a big advocate of the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and actions. I employ the use of cognitive restructuring and behavioral activation approaches in order to encourage progress and change toward our therapeutic goals.
I have experience working in the development of healthy coping skills, healthy relationships, achievement of personal goals, removal or reduction of unwanted habits, as well as overcoming traumatic experiences.
I will offer my insights as a counselor in order to help reframe particular thoughts and patters of behavior for you, all in hopes of increasing awareness.
I borrow interventions from cognitive-behavioral, existentialist, psychoanalytical, and spiritualistic styles based on your particular needs.
