New to Grow
After practicing law for over 10 years in a variety of areas including divorce and child custody issues, I decided that my passion for resolving conflicts could be better used to help people find solutions for their distress in the mental health field. I offer outpatient psychotherapy for adolescents, adults, couples and families who are facing a range of concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, anger management, grief and loss and stress management. I incorporate a variety of clinical perspectives in working with clients including cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, strength-based and client-centered therapy. I also apply my therapy skills along with an understanding of the legal system in offering co-parenting counseling and reunification counseling. I have expertise working with children and parents from intact or separated families helping them to learn healthy communication patterns and develop appropriate ways to manage conflict.
In our first session we will explore the presenting circumstances that brings you into counseling as well as explore your overall background to give me a starting point in knowing where to meet you and begin our journey. I will also typically share a little about me and my approach so we can start our work together with some shared knowledge of each other and hopefully make it easier to continue forward.
I am passionate about my work and helping clients to the extent of my ability. I made the career change from law to counseling because I was motivated to better help people with my compassion, analytical skills and drive to solve problems. I treat every one of my clients with a serious commitment to help them but an approach that is also reflective of my personality where we can even share a laugh or a smile at times while working through some difficult problems.
I enjoy working with all types of backgrounds and life experiences. The diversity in my practice in regard to client population and presenting issues is one of the aspects I appreciate in being a counselor. As long as the client in question is motivated to seek change for themselves, the client will always have me as a willing partner to work with them to help them lead a happier and more satisfying life.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT is the foundation of my practice and I use it constantly in helping client navigate their concerns.
Psychoeducation
I frequently introduce psychoeducation as a part of my counseling to help client better understand the nature of their concerns and ways to work through them better.
Couples Counseling
I have conducted couples counseling since I started practicing and relationship issues are often a large part of client concerns.
Family Therapy
Family relationships are a frequent source of stress and I often work on family dynamics in order to help a client with their life.
Trauma Informed Care
Trauma experiences are unfortunately very common in life and I always use trauma informed care as a part of my practice.
