New to Grow
My name is Karlie Harper. I have an LCSW and have been practicing therapy for about 7 years. I live with my husband and children. We have moved around frequently due to his military service. I use humor often in my therapy sessions, but can also be serious when needed. I am open-minded and not easily surprised these days. I enjoy serving all types of people and diagnoses.
The first session would be in intake. We will start getting to know each other and I will ask lots questions about her history, current living context, background, and why you are seeking out treatment. I will ask about past treatment episodes, family history of substance use or mental health disorders, and learn about your expectations for therapy.
I have been married to a military service member for 20 years and have learned about many different types of people. I have served vulnerable communities such as those coming out of prison, women with children living in a domestic violence shelter, the unhoused population, and the LGBTA community. I am friendly and engage well with others and can always constant positive regard for my clients.
I enjoy serving clients of all ages, races, identities, and economic backgrounds. I have worked with clients with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, PTSD, ADHD, and other concerns. I have worked with those who served in the military, those in the LGBTQ community, and people of color. I am certified in PCIT, which is family therapy for young children and their parents as well as TF-CBT which is trauma treatment. I am comfortable using DBT and ACT as well.
