Delene Iacono
Hello/Hola/Ciao, My name is Delene Iacono. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW, who works with children and adults. I offer therapy in English, Spanish, and sometimes Italian. As a result I have a deep respect for other cultures. My belief is that each of us has within the knowledge of what we need to do to heal or improve our lives.
I think the fact that I come from an immigrant family, have lived in several countries, and speak more than one language gives me a unique perspective which I bring to my work.
I see this as an internal map. My job as a therapist is to help each person find and read their own map. Therapy is very much a collaborative experience.
First session
Besides introducing myself and letting you know briefly who I am, I will ask you to tell me about the situation that's bringing you to therapy. I will ask background questions about your life and explain why I do this. I also ask what is important to you to focus on immediately. At any point in this process I answer whatever questions you have. If you are comfortable with me and with this process we will set another appointment.
Strengths

Ideal clients
I enjoy working with clients who have been affected by difficult life events whether as a child or adult and want to make changes. I appreciate the opportunity to work with children of any age as I am a Play Therapist.
Treatment methods
Eclectic
I use an eclectic approach because I draw from a number of approaches. I try to tailor the approach to the individual. I also combine a number of approaches in one session. For example I might provide psychoeducation in a person focused approach, or provide experiences such as sandplay with in the session.
