Are you feeling stress or defeated by life and all its demands? Life is a daily challenge to be met by every person no matter the age, with many obstacles that can get in the way. Sometimes it gets difficult to see through the obstacles and navigate through life’s problems. I am here to help. Every person has a unique personality and philosophy on life. Because of this every person needs a tailored treatment. We’ll use a holistic, client centered, strengths-based approach in which together we can identify what’s not working and discover your hidden resources and skills to bring you new insights, peace of mind, and improved quality of life. I specialize in empowering adolescents, adults, and families to be the best version of themselves. I help my client’s to be true to themselves. In being true, they may find the freedom to have a happier and more fulfilling life. Beginning therapy can be feel similar to taking a trip to an unknown destination with someone you don’t know well yet. Knowing what to expect from me can be helpful. As your therapist my goal is to provide a genuine, safe, trusting, non- judgmental environment allowing you to explore and gain greater knowledge of yourself. I believe the relationship between a client and therapist is the foundation of successful therapy. My hope is that through our therapeutic relationship we discovery the positive and negative patterns in your life, while learning techniques and resolutions which will allow you to be the driver of your future.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

We will discuss what has led you to counseling in more detail and find out what is important to you in seeking counseling. My goal will be to work with you on understanding the issue from multiple angles so that we can ultimately choose interventions that match your specific needs and circumstances. Our first session is not to solve all the issues you are seeking help with, or give you generic non-tailored solutions. My goal is to fully understand you and assessing the therapeutic fit becomes imperative at this stage. Do you feel heard, understood, and respected? Are we on the same page?

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I frequently utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help with symptoms of depression and anxiety, but not limited to these two specific conditions. The primary objective of CBT is understanding and modifying the interaction between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. The goal of CBT for my clients is to to identify and modify thought patterns that elicit positive feelings, leading to healthy behaviors. Additionally I utilize Solution Focused Therapy in which the definition is all in the name. It’s an approach that seeks solutions and ask “what’s right” rather that focusing on “what’s wrong.” Shortcomings and struggles are not negated, however I like to place an emphasis on understanding your strengths and competencies and using these skills to help with whatever is causing issues.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Genuine, calm, accepting, inclusive, and practical best describe my personal therapeutic style. I place a high value on carful “listening to understand, not to respond”, empathy, and professional transparency when building a therapeutic alliance. My approach is motivated by who you are and what you identify as important.
