Majia Rhyans
I am a warm, down-to-earth therapist who helps high functioning adults who may look like they have everything together but feel overwhelmed, stuck, or emotionally exhausted underneath. My style is compassionate, practical, trauma-informed, and evidence-based, using approaches like CBT, DBT, and ACT to help clients build coping skills, understand themselves more deeply, and create meaningful change.
Strengths
My strengths as a therapist are creating a warm, nonjudgmental space while also being practical, collaborative, and goal-oriented. I help clients feel understood without leaving them stuck in the same patterns. I bring a trauma-informed lens, strong skills in emotional regulation and coping, and an ability to make therapy feel both supportive and actionable. I work especially well with clients who are used to being the “strong one” and need a space where they can finally slow down, process, and focus on themselves.
Treatment methods
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I use DBT because it gives clients practical, concrete skills they can apply outside of session when emotions feel overwhelming. I incorporate DBT strategies to help clients improve emotion regulation, tolerate distress, strengthen boundaries and communication, and respond more intentionally rather than react impulsively. I often use skills such as mindfulness, grounding, self-validation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness, while tailoring the approach to each client’s individual needs and goals.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
use ACT to help clients become more aware of difficult thoughts and emotions without allowing them to completely dictate their choices. I incorporate values exploration, mindfulness, acceptance, and committed action to help clients move toward the life they want, even when discomfort is present. ACT is especially helpful for clients who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or caught in patterns of avoidance.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT to help clients identify unhelpful thought patterns and understand how thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence one another. Together, we work on reframing thinking, building healthier coping strategies, and making practical changes that support improved mood, confidence, and day-to-day functioning.
