Hello! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Texas. I started my career as an educator and have over 20 years of experience working with children to teens, while collaborating with their caregivers. I received my Master's from Lamar University and have been practicing for nine years as a Professional School Counselor and LPC for three years. Also. I have my Doctorate in Education, which my dissertation was about how to restore and connect between students and teachers. I believe in the healing power of connection and support for students. I help children aged 5 to adulthood manage life’s stressors through many modalities that best meet my client’s needs.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we’ll start with brief introductions and then dive into your challenges. Also, the symptoms that are manifesting from those challenges. This will help me create an individualized plan for us to work through in the follow-up session. The first session is to get your narrative of what brings you into therapy. Although there are intake questions asked prior to our first session, this narrative provides more information.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Since I have worked with kids and families for over 20 years, I feel my strength lies in working with children and teens while partnering with parents/guardians on how to work with their children developmentally. This partnership will provide the best opportunity to support your child holistically.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapeutic approach that helps individuals process distressing memories using bilateral stimulation, typically through guided eye movements. Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is a therapeutic approach that helps clients understand and change thinking and behavior patterns. It identifies and challenges negative thoughts to promote healthier emotions and actions.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness-based therapy emphasizes being present at the moment and cultivating awareness without judgment. This involves meditation and breathing exercises to help manage stress, enhance self-awareness, and promote well-being.

Play Therapy

Play therapy is an approach to engage the client in play, typically with children, to express themselves and explore emotions. It provides a non-verbal and comfortable way to communicate feelings, thoughts, and experiences.

Sandplay

Sandtray therapy is an expressive approach to therapy. The client can express thoughts, feelings, and experiences through different scenes created in the sand using a tray of sand and miniatures. This allows for self-discovery, insight, and integration of emotions.
