Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

I will spend the first session discussing what you want to gain from being in therapy, understand your journey up to the point that we begin working together. I will be interested in understanding what, if any, strategies, coping tools or therapy experiences you have had in the past that have been helpful/unhelpful. I also like to spend a little time understanding your family of origin, who are your past/current support systems, creative interests,

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

With over two decades of experience in therapeutic services, I specialize in empowering individuals, families, and couples to navigate challenges with resilience and confidence. As a therapist currently in private practice, I manage a diverse caseload of clients, offering personalized support for anxiety, depression, trauma recovery, and life transitions. My holistic approach, grounded in CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy as well as strengthening mental resilience reflects my commitment to fostering mental well-being and enriching clients’ lives. I thrive on creating a collaborative and compassionate environment that aligns with evidenced-based programs and therapeutic approaches, as part of delivering accessible and impactful mental health care, helping my clients achieve a sense of fulfillment, happiness and sustainable emotional wellness. I provide comprehensive virtual therapy to a broad range of clients, tailoring evidence-based modalities to their unique needs. My work includes addressing complex mental health challenges and supporting clients in their journey toward healing and transformation. By leveraging structured therapeutic techniques and cross-functional collaboration, I contribute to the delivery of high-quality and effective mental health services. My dedication to mentorship and team collaboration enhances our ability to provide seamless, empathetic care. For the past several years, I have been working with high profile clients, athletes and those looking to enhance their professional careers, in the government sector as well as individuals who are currently working in some of the most well-known corporations. As part of expanding my knowledge in this area, I am currently focusing on sports psychology and specializing in Mental Performance Consulting. I like to focus on strengthening intrinsic motivation, maintaining a steady level of success while minimizing burnout, addressing any unhealthy thought patterns, shift narratives and belief systems into a more positive and growth-minded trajectory.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I have been practicing marriage and family therapy for many years, but most recently (in the past three years) I have had the opportunity to work with professional athletes, executives and leaders of companies/organizations, focusing on mental and physical performance, preventing burnout, strengthening intrinsic motivation, maintaining healthy team/familial relationships as part of maintaining success. I believe that integrating my years of experience with systems theory and group dynamics, motivational interviewing, grief work and mindfulness will be beneficial as I build a more specific client base. I am also beginning to focus more of my clinical training in sports psychology.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have utilized CBT with trauma recovery (TF-CBT), as well as with sports performance, job stress and career goals, to work through life transitions and stressful events (divorce, remarriage, new job, moving, coping with illness). Through these processes I have also integrated strength-based tools and grounding techniques that complement CBT strategies

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

Throughout my 20+ years conducting individual, couple, and family therapy, I have integrated multigenerational and cultural considerations, utilized strengths and collaboration with couples who come from vastly different cultural/religious backgrounds, how to strengthen and maintain connection to one's own cultural identity. I maintain yearly cultural competency training and have a deep appreciation and willingness to learn from each of my client's unique cultural backgrounds.

Motivational Interviewing

I utilize Motivational Interviewing as part of helping individuals connect with their deep desires to change something specific (an unhealthy or self-described destructive habit/behavior, a job, changing codependent patterns in relationships). I find Motivational Interviewing in conjunction with CBT and mindfulness to be a helpful combination of techniques when working with professional athletes and those who are driven to succeed in their career.

Mind-body approach

I practice mindfulness daily and consistently utilize guided visualization and mind-body connectedness as part of managing stress, improving sleep and decreasing negative impact of stress on the body. I have also seen that this helps my clients feel grounded, confident and they gain clarity as they work on their desired goals.
