Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it's completely normal to feel nervous or unsure about what to expect. My goal in our first session is to create a safe and welcoming space where you feel seen, heard, and accepted just as you are. During this initial session, we will take time to get to know each other. I will ask questions to better understand your current concerns, your history, and what is bringing you to therapy now. You are free to share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. There is no pressure to have everything figured out. This time is about you, and we will go at your pace. We will also talk about your goals for therapy. Whether you already know what you want to work on or are still figuring that out, I will help you start identifying what healing and growth could look like for you. I will explain how I work, answer any questions you have about the process, and together we will begin shaping a path forward. Most importantly, our first session is about building trust. It is the beginning of a supportive relationship, and my hope is that you leave feeling a little more grounded, a little more hopeful, and reassured that you do not have to face things on your own.
I am passionate about providing quality, compassionate, and comprehensive mental health care to both adolescents and adults. Supporting this population has always been a meaningful part of my work, and I find working with teens and adults to be incredibly rewarding. Each stage of life presents its own challenges, and I am committed to helping individuals navigate those challenges with support, understanding, and evidence-based care. Tesheika is an amazing nurse practitioner who I wholeheartedly not only credit her treatment methods for the huge jump in progress that I’ve seen in reducing my severe stress related fatigue and other issues associated with my anxiety/panic disorder, but she’s also been able to help me lower my physical pain levels which I never imagined I’d be able to do since I’d been living with this issue of over 20 years.
