My name is Ashley Cumbess and I am a Licensed Mental Health Therapist that approaches therapy from a person - centered, solution focused perspective utilizing motivational interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques. I have been working with individuals and families for 8+ years in all different places and stages of life. I am a very REAL person that happens to be a therapist and has found a true calling in helping people navigate some of their deepest and hardest life struggles. My favorite quote is "when nothing is certain, everything is possible." We write our stories and you have the power to right your ship and direct it in the direction of your dreams... I'm here to help you navigate the storm and keep your eyes on the horizon!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session I generally ask some questions during a brief intake to get an understanding of where you are currently, we then discuss what is currently bringing you to therapy, then identify some goals and solutions that you might be looking to achieve; followed by setting up a schedule for future appointments.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

As a clinician it's my belief that we have to start from the core of who someone is to peel back layers and discover what barriers are preventing growth. All progress start and stops with the person being treated as they inherently know themselves better than anyone else could and sometimes just need guidance to rediscover truths about themselves. 8+ years of experience.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral therapy is how we reorganize and understand how our thoughts, actions and feelings all connect. As a clinician I can assist in guiding and educated my clients in taking control of confusing thoughts, feelings and restructuring them to create outcomes that they desire. 8+ years of experience.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing is a process in which the clinician using motivational interviewing techniques and skills that assist the client in moving through stages of change and achieving their desired outcome. 5+ years of experience.
